Em writes on her blog about her acne: 'It's one of those dreaded things that makes you feel so bad every time you look in the mirror, and it's safe to say that I've had my fair share of sleepless nights over it.'

She added that she has been with her boyfriend for more than three years, and since they live together, he sees her more without make-up than with it.

'When we try to make an evening a little bit special, I try and make more of an effort with my make-up and hair,' she explains.

Em begins the demo bare-faced, and starts off by applying NYX's Studio Photogenic foundation, which she says is 'dewy' when it first goes on but then settles into more of a matt finish.

Em then goes over her blemishes again with two different concealers; first Collection's Lasting Perfection concealer and then Nars' Radiant Creamy offering, which she applies under her eyes and on her chin, cupid's bow, nose, and forehead.

Then she sets her make-up with Ben Nye's Natural Set Powder, before moving on to contouring.

For this, she uses Illamasquia's Single Eyeshadow in the hollows of her cheeks and down the sides of nose, then applies MeMeMe's Beat the Blues highlighter to her temples, nose, cupid's bow, and under her eyebrows.

Next, she brightens up her cheeks with Seek's Blush, and defines her brows using Anastasia's Dipbrow Pomade.

For her eyes, she uses Illamasqua's eye shadow as a base, and two shades of Bourjois' Colour Band Eyeshadow Stick, blending as she goes.

Em then uses to different liquid eyeliners to great a subtle cat eye; Pixi by Petra's Endless Silky Eye Pen, then Collection's Extreme 24HR Felt Liner - before applying a coat of Benefit's Roller Lash mascara.

She finishes her look with false lashes from Ardel, plumps her lips with Dreamweave's Lip Voliage then applies Soap and Glory's Sexy Mother Pucker Glossy Crayon in a rose pink shade.
