Surprise raver! Claire Danes shows off her dance moves while recalling her wild time at techno club in Berlin

It's not the way many people spend a Sunday afternoon.

But Claire Danes highly recommends it - dancing naked in a club in Berlin, that is.

The actress shocked Ellen DeGeneres on Monday's show when she revealed that she'd spent some time at the German capital city's notorious Berghain joint, during time off from filming Homeland.

Not that she took her own clothes off - the 36-year-old went for the music.

'Berlin is known for its techno and for its clubs. I thought, like, heavy metal and techno were the two genres of music I had no kind of tolerance for,' the star explained.

'You'll go to Berlin, you might change your mind - you get sucked in. They have this incredible club called Berghain, which is, like world renowned.'

Claire explained that the venue stays open 24 hours a day, adding:  'People go in on Friday and they leave on Monday morning and they go straight to work, right. It's intense.

The naked truth: The 36-year-old, who busted a few dance moves, revealed, 'Last time I went it was, like, fetish weekend, everybody was in black or nothing at all' much to Ellen's amazement

'Last time I went it was, like, fetish weekend, everybody was in black or nothing at all. It's vast, its huge this place, an industrial warehouse...'

It took Ellen a couple of seconds to catch up with the 'nothing at all' comment and she interrupted saying: 'I'm sorry, back up, back up, back up! People are dancing completely naked?'

The actress replied: 'Yes, yes...' as the audience broke into gales of laughter.

The shocked chat show host continued: 'It is disgusting,' as Claire added, 'No, it's actually not. Not eveybody's naked.'

But Ellen wasn't convinced: 'It doesn't matter, just one... Can you imagine there's a naked person dancing next to you?'

Then Claire, who looked cute in a periwinkle blue dress, went on to explain the huge space had areas for different music, bars and even an ice cream parlour, adding: 'It's amazing it's the best place on earth.

Too much information: The chat show host was shocked at the idea of nude people strutting their stuff, saying, 'Can you imagine there's a naked person dancing next to you?' as the audience roared with laughter

'I was so scared when I first went in, I had acute anxiety because I didn't know what to expect.'

Ellen quickly broke in: 'Because there's naked people eating ice cream!'

The actress, who received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame last week, was undaunted, describing it 'as a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon, I'm telling you.'

Of course, Ellen played some techno for Claire to dance to and was roundly told off for picking a bad track before the actress busted a few moves.

And it looks like Claire will be dancing with her three-year-old tot Cyrus, who she shares with actor husband Hugh Dancy, 40, in the future.

Ellen gave her a Baby Bjorn carrier decorated with blue and lime green fur and strapped it on before the pair danced to more techno.
