She'll be the best-dressed teen in town! Cindy Crawford reveals she has an 'archival' closet full of unworn designer clothes she is saving for her 14-year-old daughter, Kaia

  • The 49-year-old invited The Coveteur into the Malibu home she just sold to talk about her new book, Becoming by Cindy Crawford
  • She shared her advice for her children, Kaia and Presley Gerber, 16
  • Once paid for runway gigs in clothes, Cindy has left many of the pieces untouched to one day pass on to her daughter
  • The supermodel also said walking the Versace runway in 1991 with Chrisy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, and Linda Evangelista 'surreal'

If there was ever a 14-year-old who could make grown women jealous, it's Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia Gerber.

The teenager lives in a luxe ocean-side Malibu home (which her parents just sold for $13.341 million), travels the world with her mega-successful parents, and inherited her mom's good looks.

And, according to a new interview Cindy gave to the The Coveteur, she's also set to inherit a ton of her mom's unworn designer clothes, which the supermodel is keeping safe for her in an 'archival closet'.

'I have a lot of clothes that actually I haven’t even opened,' Cindy explained. 'I’ve saved old Alaïa pieces from when I used to do his show and he used to pay us in clothes, or Chanel, so those are in a separate closet — more like an archival closet that I’m keeping for my daughter.'

Kaia also likely gets to raid her mom's actual closet, which she showed off to the fashion website, sharing a peek at an enviable shoe rack and gorgeous jewelry collection.

But besides a ton of stylish duds, Kaia is privileged to get plenty of good modeling advice from her mother, which Cindy also shares with her son, 16-year-old Presley.

'[I tell my children], treat it like a job and be professional,' she said. 'I think that applies to any job but I think sometimes in fashion, you’re so young going into it, you forget it’s a business. Show up prepared, show up on time and ready to work. Don’t be on your phone, don’t be distracted, and don’t be tired.'

Cindy certainly has never been one to phone it in. Though she now prefers a relaxed lifestyle — and revealed that she likes to get up early, before the rest of her family, to hop in the Jacuzzi first thing in the morning - for years she kept incredibly busy, flying around the world for photoshoots and Fashion Week.

One of her favorite memories from that time, she said, was Versace's iconic Fall 1991 fashion show, in which Cindy took the catwalk with fellow supermodels Chrisy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, and Naomi Campbell.

'I think the most surreal [moment in my career] was walking down that Versace runway with Christy, Linda and Naomi to the George Michael’s song and the video,' she said. 'It just felt like this is something, you couldn’t quite put your finger on it because you’re in the middle of show week, but it felt like the stars were in alignment. That one moment became bigger than any one of us, it was just amplified by the fact that we were all together.'

Now, though, there's a new supermodel crew taking the fashion world by storm, and Cindy remarked on how interesting it is to watch the ways in which their fame differs from her own.

'I think the experience of being a model has changed now because through social media, they can take more charge of their career,' she said. 'They take more charge of how they want the world to see them.

'I think the models of my generation, people only knew us from the pictures that were out of us but with social media, if you want to be silly or if you want to be more serious or if you have a cause, you can promote that on social media. I think that young models have a great opportunity to present themselves in a way they want to.'

Not that Cindy hasn't had control over the way she presents herself. In fact, as she nears her fiftieth birthday - which she says is 'hard for any woman' — she today released a coffee table book, Becoming by Cindy Crawford, which spotlights some of the greatest moments from her decades-long career.
