Manchester City are set to sign Swansea winger Scott Sinclair after agreeing a deal with the Welsh side that could reach £8million including add-ons.

The player's move seemed to have stalled with Swansea wanting more than the £6.2m originally offered by the Etihad side.

But with only a year left on Sinclair's contract at the Liberty Stadium, chairman Huw Jenkins has agreed to let the player go, and Sinclair arrived at Manchester's Bridgewater Hospital for his medical on Thursday afternoon.

Sinclair has agreed personal terms for his move, which many have suggested is not the wisest career wise as opportunities may be limited under Roberto Mancini.

Adam Johnson left for Sunderland in a £10m deal because he could not get enough game-time for City and Sinclair could find himself in a similar position.

With this deal sorted City can now focus on various other transfer targets to boost Mancini's squad before the end of the window.

Inter Milan right-back Maicon is next on the list, with a £4.7m price on his head.

Theo Walcott is another target and the England winger is at odds with Arsenal over a new contract extension.

Meanwhile they are close to acquiring Fiorentina defender Matija Nastasic.

The 19-year-old defender is the subject of an £8m bid from Mancini's side with Stefan Savic potentially going the other way as part of the deal.

Chelsea will net around £500,000 as a bonus when the move goes through because of a clause in the deal when Sinclair left for Swansea from Stamford Bridge.

He cost the Swans £1.5m in 2010 and Roman Abramovich's club are believed to be entitled to 10 percent of any profit from the player's next move.

Swansea have agreed a £5.5m deal for a replacement in Valencia winger Pablo Hernandez.

They now must secure a work permit and complete the paperwork before the transfer deadline on Friday.
