'Did you once say six seasons and you think you're done,' radio host Elvis Duran questioned.

'Do you still hold onto that or what's the deal there?'

'We’re starting to think about sort of how to wrap up the story lines of these particular young women,' Dunham stated.

'It's really exciting, I started working on this show when I was 23 and I'm going to be 30,' she explained.

'So it kind of feels right that the show sandwiched my twenties and now I go off into the world.'

Girls premiered on HBO in 2012 and is a comedy-drama following a close group of twenty-somethings living in New York City.

Much of the show's premise and story lines were inspired by some of Dunham's real-life experiences.

While this chapter may be closing Dunham is already working on her next project as she released a free weekly feminist newsletter that includes advice and personal essays as a guide to the modern woman called Lenny Letter.

Duran asked Lena to define what feminism means to her and she replied, 'Feminism is just equal rights.'

'If you believe that men and women deserve to make the same amount of money you're a feminist,' she explained.

'If you believe that it was correct for women to be able to vote or that women are allowed to own property, you're a feminist.'

'You have the basic belief that all people deserve the same thing.'
