Miley Cyrus will host Saturday Night Live for the third time on October 3, when the series kicks off its 41st season.

And she was already setting tongues wagging on Monday night, when she left a rehearsal for the sketch show in New York City.

Miley knows how to turn heads, and she did just that in a pair of unusual black and white smoke print leggings from Rita Ora's Adidas collection.

She was also rocking rainbow coloured dreadlocks, which she had pulled back into a ponytail, and matching socks and shoes.

The 22-year-old accessorised with a cloud necklace and a handbag shaped like a cassette player, finishing off her striking look with stick-on gems on her face and lots of bright blue eyeliner.

After a busy day of rehearsals, Miley spent the evening partying with pals at Soho House.
