Wales' Rugby World Cup stars presented shirts by Sir Tom Jones ahead of England clash on Green Green Grass of Twickenham

After Warren Gatland vowed his Wales side would 'smash' England when they meet on Saturday, the man responsible for some of the country's biggest ever hits has been enlisted for a final pep talk.

Pop icon Sir Tom Jones presented Sam Warburton and his team-mates with their shirts ahead of their crunch World Cup Pool A match at Twickenham on Saturday.

'It's not unusual for a little bit of Tom Jones in the team room, ' tweeted Welsh Rugby's official profile. 'Thank you Sir Tom for today's shirt presentation.'

This match will go a long way to deciding who has a chance at returning to the Green, Green Grass of Twickenham for the final, with Australia also vying for one of just two places in the quarter-finals.

Sir Tom's association with Wales rugby goes deep with his 1968 hit Delilah a sort of second anthem for fans, whose renditions have inspired the men in red to greatness.

It famously worked wonders in 1999 at Wembley when their singing helped bring about a last-gasp try from Scott Gibbs, converted by Neil Jenkins, to end England's charge to a Grand Slam.

This clash between Gatland's and Stuart Lancaster's sides is easily the biggest clash of heavyweights so far in this tournament.

The England boss is unleashing Sam Burgess at centre alongside Brad Barritt, with Owen Farrell a more physical choice at No 10 at the expense of George Ford.

We won't be trying to single out Burgess at all,' said Gatland. 'We will be going out there to smash him like everyone else.'

Wales has been hit by injury but starts with a similarly physical line-up that includes Tomas Francis at tight-head prop, Scott Baldwin at hooker and Gethin Jenkins at loose-head,

Workhorse captain Sam Warburton remains at open-side flanker with Justin Tipuric on the bench, with breakaway Dan Lydiate and Taulupe Faletau his fellow back-rowers. Jamie Roberts at centre and George North on the wing are big boppers in their own right.

Only a win will be acceptable from either side, with only one able to lay claim to Burning Down The House while the other will endure a sensation that's Enough To Make a Big Man Cry.
