'You have her in bed by seven': Bindi Irwin's DWTS partner and 'protective big brother' Derek Hough gives her new beau Chandler Powell a warning

She's just made her red carpet debut with her man, Chandler Powell, 18, and has gushed about her beau online.

And while 17-year-old Bindi Irwin's new romance seems to be going from strength-to-strength, her Dancing With The Stars partner Derek Hough, 30, is keeping a watchful eye over her, acting as somewhat of a 'protective big brother.'

Derek and Bindi spoke to Entertainment Tonight ahead of their performance on Monday night and the professional dancer gave Chandler some rules to abide by to ensure Bindi is well looked after.

'Alright this is what you do, alright young man, you go home, you have her in bed by seven alright, you get the tea and the ice, ice on, ice off, 20 minutes...it's like that,' Derek said. 

'You know I've got four sisters. Now I've got five sisters. I'm a protective big brother, what can I say,' Derek added. 

His comments came after Bindi revealed that Chandler spends most of his time looking after her when they're together.

She also said that she's grateful for the continuing support of her family while she appears on the show.

'It's really funny because every night I come home and he's like okay, lets get the ice, lets get a cup of tea, and lets get you food. So it's kind of this checklist,' she said of Chandler. 

Bindi has been struggling with a foot injury of late, but has continued to power through her rehearsals. 

This week Bindi and Chandler made their red carpet debut as a couple ahead of the live Dancing With The Stars show.

The Wildlife Warrior recently spoke to People magazine about how she and Chandler maintain their long distance relationship.

Chandler is based in Florida while Bindi and her family split their time between Los Angeles and Australia.

'We talk every day and are together every two to three months,' she told the publication. 

She also revealed how the pair spend their time together.  

'Thankfully I've found someone who is an outdoors kind of person. We'll go have adventures or picnic in the park,' she explained.
