Gisele Bundchen topped Forbes' list of highest-paid supermodels for the ninth year running earlier this month so if anyone can get away with wearing slippers in public, she can.

And the 35-year-old supermodel, who retired from the catwalk in April, did just that as she stepped out in New York City's West Village on Tuesday.

Gisele's unusual choice of footwear almost went unnoticed as she looked typically gorgeous in an otherwise chic and sophisticated ensemble.

The Brazilian beauty showed off her slender physique in a camel-coloured faux suede shirt with button detailing.

Comfort over style: The supermodel ditched her heels in favour of her slippers

The long-sleeved top featured a crisp collar a plunging neckline and she wore it tucked into white high-waisted culottes which beautifully complemented her lithe, never-ending pins.

The baggy trousers, which she accessorised with a slim black leather belt, cut off just above the ankle, clearly revealing her white towelling slip-ons.

She wore her soft blonde locks in natural waves tucked behind her ears, revealing her chiselled jaw line.

The leggy blonde, having just finished a photo shoot for Chanel, was flanked by her make-up artist who was laden with a selection of make-up brushes.

Gisele has thrown herself back into work after UsWeekly claimed it was privy to new information that would really upset her.

It's been assumed that the top secret info has something to do with her husband Tom Brady as the couple allegedly hit a rough patch in the summer.
