'Two hours of sleep!' Kevin Zegers gazes lovingly at newborn twin daughters... as he reveals the reality of parenthood

As he gazes lovingly at his twin daughters, it's clear that Kevin Zegers is utterly besotted.

But that doesn't mean the 31-year-old is prepared to sugarcoat the realities of parenthood - opening up about the broken nights in honest Twitter posts.

In the month since he and his wife Jaime Feld welcomed their daughters, Kevin has been documenting his new life as a parent with gusto on social media.

On Tuesday, the actor appeared to be referencing his sleep deprivation from caring for his girls throughout the night: 'There's a drunken euphoria that comes with 2 hours of sleep.'

But the 31-year-old displayed just how taken he was with fatherhood in a professional photo snapped by Michael Katcher.

In the image, the Gossip Girls actor lovingly gazed down at his cherubic infant daughters Zoe Madison and Blake Everleigh.

Zoe laid in her father's hand, while her twin sister Blake curled up beside her father with her eyes closed.

The barefoot dad looked absolutely mesmerized as he leaned over his little girls.

Zoe is the youngest out of the twins by just two minutes, according to People.

However, big sister Blake came out with a lighter birth weight was placed in the neonatal intensive care unit for nearly a week as a result, the website adds.

Kevin made the most of the trying time, and told the magazine: 'I would go up to the NICU to feed Blake and FaceTime my wife so she could see her.'

The Canadian actor and his talent agent wife wed in 2013, after meeting through friends.

The Gracepoint star, who also was on former CW hit Gossip Girl, will next be seen in thriller The Curse of Downers Grove.

The former child star was a 1990s teen heartthrob and starred in 1997 family comedy Air Bud. He also was in 2005 film Transamerica with Felicity Huffman.

However, it's unlikely his girls will be following in his footsteps as a child actor anytime soon.

In a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) last month, Kevin said he wouldn't let his kids act or get into entertainment until they are 18.

'Child acting is a tough one', he told a fan. 'Listen, I'm happy that I had all of the experiences I did as a kid working but it definitely has it challenges. Not something i ever advise.

'If you look at the statistics, its pretty startling how many child actors are dead or in rehab. Something obviously happens to our heads,' he said, but added 'Just my opinion though'.
