Gogglebox's Eve Woerdenweber announces her engagement via Twitter... just seven months after split from her former co-star Silent Jay

She left the nation in shock when she dumped Gogglebox beau Silent Jay earlier on this year.

But just seven months after Eve Woerdenweber and Jay broke-up, the reality TV star announced she was getting married to her new man, Josh Smith, after he proposed to her in Venice, Italy.

Taking to Twitter last week the 21-year-old announced her happy news, writing: I was proposed to in Venice and I said yes to my lovely fiancé. I love you sweetheart @Josh1on1 [sic].'

Having ended her relationship with Jay - the notoriously silent metal-head who no longer appears in the show - in March, Eve started dating Josh a short-while later.

And it appears that the Gogglebox Goth has found true-love with her Josh, as she has left a series of declarations of her love for him on the social media site since announcing the engagement.

Posting a picture of herself and the sapphire and diamond ring on Friday, she gushingly captioned the photo:

'Filming #gogglebox and trying not to stare at my beautiful ring from my beautiful fiancé & soul mate. #engaged.'

Following claims from fans of the TV show that she was miserable following her split with Silent Jay the newly engaged Eve hit-back by posting a declaration of her happiness.

Snapping a picture of herself and her fiancé pulling funny faces while standing cosily close to each other, Eve wrote: 'So according to some I look miserable these days... Yep...so miserable.... #getyourfactsright #happyaslarry [sic].'

And while many fans of the show have been left shocked that she has agreed to marry her new beau just seven months after splitting from Jay, the Gogglebox star has hit back at her detractors.

Posting a defiantly happy message on Twitter, she simply wrote 'Nope she didn't :),' in reply to one fan's message about her whirlwind engagement.

Eve first rose to prominence on the show when she appeared with mother and father Viv and Ralph, as well as her boyfriend at the time Jay - real name Jay Makin.

However half-way through series five, the pair broke-up with Jay leaving the Woerdenweber's sofa as well as the show.

Speaking to The Sun about their break-up in March, Jay said: 'I'm gutted that Eve broke up with me. It came completely out of the blue.

'We had a few problems and started drifting apart but I thought it was down to the pressure of the show and her business.

'Eve said she still wants to be friends but hasn't spoken to me and has deleted me on Facebook. It really hurts, we were so close.'
