Sexually explicit contract for extras in HBO show Westworld - which requires oral sex simulation, genital-to-genital touching and other lewd acts - is criticized by acting union

  • The graphic consent form demands that extras agree to take part in possible simulated oral sex scenes and nude bareback riding
  • Background actors must also agree to contort to form a table-like shape - while in the nude - and to possible genital-to-genital touching
  • Performers in the sci-fi drama series may also be asked to wear a pubic wig and have their 'genitals painted'
  • The document concedes that actors may find 'sexual situations' on set 'personally objectionable and uncomfortable'
  • But any extra working on the project must agree to sign the contract
  • SAG-AFTRA union criticized the 'unenforceable' contract - saying members can revoke consent for sex scenes at any time
  • Westworld, starring Ed Harris, Anthony Hopkin and Evan Rachel Wood, premieres on HBO next year

Simulated oral sex and riding on another person's back while nude are just some of the sexual acts that extras on HBO's Westworld must be prepared to perform - according to their graphic contract.

The extremely explicit consent form warns that the background roles on the brand-new science-fiction series are not for the faint-hearted.

It concedes that actors may find 'language and sexual situations' on set 'personally objectionable and uncomfortable'.

But extras hoping to work on the project will have no choice but to sign the document, which also demands they agree to 'contort to form a table-like shape while being fully nude' and possible 'genital-to-genital touching'.

The explicit form requests that the background actors agree to 'pose on all fours while others who are fully nude ride on your back, [and] ride on someone's back while you are both fully nude'.

Performers may also be asked to wear a pubic wig and have their 'genitals painted'.

SAG-AFTRA union has lashed out at the contract, which it claims is 'unenforceable'.

In an alert on its website, the acting guild reminded members that performers have the right to revoke their consent 'to appear in scenes requiring nudity or sex acts at any time'.

The star-studded new series is based on the 1973 science-fiction Western-thriller movie that starred Yul Brynner and was written and directed by novelist Michael Crichton.

Set in a futuristic theme park called Westworld that is populated by amusement-park robots, it is described as 'a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin'.

The new TV thriller series is being created by Lisa Joy and Dark Knight and Interstellar co-writer Jonathan Nolan - with J.J. Abrams on board as an executive producer.

Starring several big names, including Ed Harris, Anthony Hopkins, Thandie Newton and James Marsden, Westworld which will br broadcast on HBO next year.

If the extras' contract is anything to go by, viewers can expect some pretty risque scenes.

The contract, like most legal documents, also includes a catch-all phrase at the end, indicating the actor also agrees to 'other assorted acts the project may require'.

With such an extensive and detailed list of sexual acts already on the form, the mind boggles at what else they could be asked to perform.

However, scenes involving whips or chains are unlikely, as SAG-AFTRA members require advance notice for 'rough or dangerous' work, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Background actors receive a boost in pay when they are asked to perform stunt work or bring in a specified wardrobe. But there is no extra payment for wearing nothing at all.

Therefore the extras in WildWorld will only get the industry's standard rate.

However, union rules do stipulate that the set must be closed to anyone not having business with the production - and no still photography is authorized without the consent of the background actor.

Filming was due to take place today, and SAG-AFTRA said it was sending a representative to the set to address any concerns.
