Tom Hanks' son has an addiction to cocaine.

Chester 'Chet' Hanks, 25, who admitted last year he's been battling substance abuse since he was 16, has revealed he's been hooked on the recreational Class A drug and checked into rehab earlier this summer in order to beat his demons.

Taking to his Instagram account, the rapper said via a series of video clips: 'I've been in rehab. I've been trying to get my s**t together and I'm doing pretty damn good.

'I just really had to take a look at myself and my life and the way s**t was going and all the crazy stupid s**t I was doing and just finally admit to myself that it wasn't working.'

He added: 'A couple months ago I was selling coke [and] doing coke until I couldn't even snort it up my nose anymore because it was so clogged. I even smoked crack.'

The musician believes his struggles with addiction stem for his lifestyle in the public eye and his difficulty trying to 'fit in' and follow in his famous father's footsteps.

He explained: 'It's been a long journey discovering who I am because all the pressures that I've dealt with in my life -- you know, being the son of my dad and everything.'

Chet's revelation comes just three months after he was reportedly sought after by police for allegedly smashing up a four-star hotel room at Gatwick Airport, just outside of London.

Known as Haze, he is also alleged to have been so 'loud and obnoxious' that other guests in the hotel complained about the noise and a receptionist was forced to ask him to keep the noise down.

Hanks had been making an appearance at a nearby nightclub where he was spotted drinking champagne and vodka in the VIP area.

A source told the Sunday Mirror: 'He was pretty obnoxious once he started drinking at the club. He kept saying "do you know who I am?"'

The source claims Hanks then went back to his hotel with a British actor friend and three female promoters, where he was sick in the car park.

'He asked the girls if they would join him in the bed, but they are not like that,' said the source. 'So he started screaming and making a right noise.

'He saw some sprinkled make-up and started asking 'who's got the coke?' But nobody did drugs there.'

The source added there was then a loud 'smashing and crashing' noise and the next morning police were called after hotel staff discovered the trashed room.

A Sussex Police spokesman said at the time: 'A guest has caused an estimated £1,200 of damage to a hotel room.

A few days prior to that incident, Chet - the second youngest son of Tom and his wife Rita Wilson - allegedly had his Instagram account suspended for using the N-word in a series of posts, which he heavily defended as 'free speech.'

‘White people use that term… it is a unspoken thing amongst their black friends. I wouldn’t go up to any black person and say it if I don’t know them like that,’ he explained.

‘I do have black friends that use it with me and I use it with them.’

Haze was recently blasted by fans on Instagram for using the racial slur when posting about his latest track Juice.

He defended his use of the word, claiming that it should not have negative connotations related to race but instead signifies his identification with hip hop culture.

MailOnline has contacted a spokesperson for Chet for further comment.

However one of Haze's friends, Scrilla King, told TMZ he ended their six-year friendship over his use of the word.

'It's disrespectful. He thinks it's a joke,' said Scrilla. 'He wakes up thinking he can be black today and know what we go through. He doesn't. I wake up black every day, he does not.'

Haze said on Monday that his parents – Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson – haven’t spoken to him directly about the controversy, but that they have asked him to stop using social media.
