Buffy The Vampire Slayer actor Nicholas Brendon faces multiple charges after 'choking girlfriend during fight'

Nicholas Brendon was arrested on Wednesday in upstate New York after allegedly choking his girlfriend during a fight, police said.

The 44-year-old former Buffy The Vampire Slayer star faces a charges of robbery, obstruction of breathing and criminal mischief, said Saratoga Springs police Lieutenant Bob Jillson

Brendon played Xander Harris in the show.

Police said the girlfriend told officers called to a downtown hotel on Wednesday night that she had gone to return property to Brendon and intended to leave.

They said Brendon allegedly objected, took her car keys and cellphone and started choking her.

'We got to the room and we found a 33-year-old female there by herself, and she reported that she had been in a domestic incident with Nick, and he had subsequently left before we got there. She did not have any physical injuries that we were aware of,' Jillson told People.

Brendon was arrested nearby without incident.

He was released from jail on Thursday after posting bond.

Brendon was charged with felony robbery in third degree and misdemeanor counts of criminal mishchief and obstruction of breathing.

It's unclear if he has a lawyer. He hasn't commented on his Facebook page.

The arrest is the latest in a string for the Los Angeles resident over the past year.

Brendon walked off the set of the Dr Phil show in August claiming that he wasn't ready to share 'the darkest parts of himself on national TV'.

The move came after Brendon completed his fourth stint in rehab.

Police found the troubled actor bleeding in an alley on July 3 after he smashed a window with his bare hands following an argument with a woman.

Though police made contact no arrest was made.

He also was arrested in May for alleged public intoxication during a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Brendon also was arrested in Tallahassee, Florida in March after allegedly damaging a hotel room after demanding an upgrade because he was a 'TV star'.

The former Buffy star was found by an officer in soiled pyjamas and struggling to walk.

Brendon was arrested in February for allegedly trashing another Florida hotel room just days after announcing the end of his four-month marriage to Moonda Tee.

The actor also was arrested in October 2014 at a hotel in Boise, Idaho the night before a Comic-Con event and was charged with malicious injury to property and resisting and obstructing police officers.

Brendon also was arrested in 2010 in Santa Monica, California on suspicion of vandalism, resisting arrest and battery on a police officer, according to the Los Angeles T‫imes.

The Criminal Minds star checked into rehab following that incident and earlier sought treatment in 2004.
