Anastasia Boylan was in a classroom on her fourth day studying at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg when Chris Harper-Mercer entered and shot her professor dead point-blank. She told her family that he told his victims to stand up and declare the religion, before telling them: 'Good, because you're a Christian, you're going to see God in just about one second.' He then shot his victims, including Anastasia, who told her father she survived by playing dead before she underwent surgery on her spine. Her father Stacy Boylan told CNN that Harper-Mercer was targeting Christians. 'He came in and there was gunfire. He secured the room and got their attention. He shot her professor point-blank. One shot killed him.'

The traumatized survivors of the college shooting in Oregon have told terrifying stories of what happened inside the school. In the latest mass killing to rock an American school campus, a gunman opened fire at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg this morning. One student said she saw her teacher get shot in the head while others described hiding in darkened classrooms with the lights off in a bid to escape the gunman's attention. Three U.S. Governors declared a state of emergency as Hurricane Joaquin strengthened to a Category 4 storm and could affect regions of the East Coast as soon as Sunday. One of the oldest villages in the Mediterranean is being overrun with athletes from one of the world's newest sports - freerunning. On Thursday, Red Bull kicked off its fifth annual Art of Motion competition on the Greek island of Santorini. The competition pits freerunners from around the world against each other in a battle to wow the judges by navigating a complex terrain, all while performing amazing gymnastic tricks. Freerunning is similar to parkour, a famous alternative sport that gained popularity with action movies like Brick Mansions and the James Bond film Casino Royale.

More than 200 aerial daredevils plunged into the record books this week, linking up 7,000 feet above Southern California to shatter a world record for the largest sequential skydiving formation. The jump center's manager, Dan Brodksy-Chenfeld, told The Associated Press on Wednesday that more skydiving records could fall in the days ahead. The same elite group of jumpers is poised to take to the air again this week in an effort to form three separate formations, he said.
