Cindy Crawford admits her 14-year-old daughter Kaia is 'embarrassed' by her as the teen interviews her supermodel mom during intimate photoshoot

Even children of celebrity parents aren't immune to getting embarrassed by their moms and dads.

Cindy Crawford revealed that her 14-year-old daughter, Kaia Gerber, is less than thrilled with her mother's social media presence.

'I know you’ve been embarrassed when I use too many hashtags!' the 49-year-old supermodel told her youngest child in a feature on The Thick, in which Kaia interviewed her mom as they sat in her huge, designer-filled closet in the family's recently-sold Malibu mansion.

Like mother, like daughter: Kaia is already following in her mom's footsteps, but Cindy told her daughter she wants her to also just enjoy her childhood

Cindy said to her daughter, who is also an up-and-coming model: 'Your father and I have always talked to you and your brother, Presley, about [social media] appropriateness, and you’re both good at checking before doing something that might not make us proud.'

However, the iconic beauty, who just published her first coffee table book, Becoming, admitted she 'can’t say the same' about her own Instagram habits as Kaia let out a knowing laugh. 

Cindy, who revealed yesterday that she has an entirely separate 'archival' closet full of designer clothes that she's saving for her daughter, also spoke about the perils of social media in today's digital age. 

'Sometimes they can be so worried about getting the perfect image to post that they forget to live in the moment,' she shared.

Her daughter seconded that, saying she worries about how heavily people edit their lives on social media.

'If you only share your best pictures, or your Facetuned self, the thought of people seeing you as you truly are can be scary,' she offered.

Kaia went on to say that although she does live a jet-setting life with her family, which also includes her dad Rande Gerber, 53, and older brother Presley, 16, in many ways her life isn't unlike that of an ordinary teenager. 

'I love platforms that allow you to share your life with the world, like Instagram and Twitter, but sometimes they create a skewed sense of reality.

'People expect you to be doing something cool all the time. In a normal life, that’s not happening!' 

Kaia, who has appeared in glamorous spreads in French fashion editor Carine Roitfeld's magazine, CR Fashion Book, and Vogue Italia, said that her mom instilled in her from an early age that no one - even supermodels - look perfect all the time.  

'It’s reassuring to know even Cindy Crawford doesn’t wake up looking like "Cindy Crawford." That’s helped me learn to be happy with myself as I am.' 

Cindy joked: 'You’ve seen it firsthand!" adding: "By the way, that’s how you’ll know when you find the right husband - when he thinks you look your best the way you wake up, without doing your hair, makeup, or anything.'

The iconic supermodel, who initially didn't want her daughter to begin modelling until she was 17, went on to tell Kaia: 'Your dad and I want you to be happy - whatever that may mean - so if modeling is something you like and want to continue, I can provide a road map and help you make good choices.

Kaia continuously expressed pride in her mom throughout the sit-down, bringing up the fact that Cindy was one of two Valedictorians in her high school class. 

Now that her mother has published her first book, Kaia shared: 'People won’t only see your beauty, but your intelligence and positivity.'

The mother-of-two was taken aback by her daughter's compliments, asking: 'Did I pay you for this?'

'You can, later!' replied Kaia, showing off her precocious side.
