'He was throwing his toys out of the pram': Naughty Boy exposes Zayn Malik's childish behaviour over falling out... but reveals music leak wasn't the cause of their spat

He may be the Naughty Boy by name but it was Zayn Malik who was the naughty boy by nature in their very public falling out.

In a new, candid interview with The Guardian, Zayn's former producer and friend has said the 22-year-old was 'throwing his toys out of the pram' when they had a Twitter spat, but they fell out over 'external influences'.

The former One Direction singer exploded at the La La La hitmaker calling him a 'fat joke' on Twitter in July, but Naughty Boy now reveals that he missed their friendship but it's not the time to reconcile.

A snippet of a music video Zayn filmed with British rap stars Krept &Konan for his cover of Rae Sremmurd's hit track, No Type, went public via Snapchat in July, the same month as the dispute.

But asked if he thought sharing the unheard material was the reason behind Zayn's abrupt termination of their friendship, Naughty Boy said: 'That wasn't... That wasn't... that was just him throwing his toys out of the pram. We fell out over something else.'

Naughty Boy admitted that missed Zayn, saying: 'I did, for a bit, not gonna lie. Our friendship was genuine, 100%. But then you have other relationships with lawyers and labels etc. I don't think we actually fell out over the lack of friendship or trust, I think it was external influences.'

The pair have not made efforts to patch up their broken friendship because 'now is not the time,' according to the music producer.

'I think Zayn's incredibly talented,' he added. 'And his voice is amazing and the world doesn't know that yet. I think the best thing for him to do now is to go a bit radio silent and let the music do the talking, because then he won't have to get into Twitter wars with Calvin Harris or me, or whoever.

Naughty Boy revealed that he and Zayn were supposed to be working on a Bollywood soundtrack together.

The producer had been approached by Shah Rukh Khan, who was working on Dilwale 2, but since the breakdown of his partnership with Zayn, Naughty Boy's 'heart isn't really in it,' he said.

Zayn hinted at the project when he met with Bend It Like Beckham director Gurinder Chadha earlier this year.

The 55-year-old shared a picture of herself with the former 1D star on her Twitter page indicating that Zayn's next move could have been to Hollywood.

The two were planning to go along to see the West End stage version of her hit 2002 movie, which starred Keira Knightley and Parminder Nagra.

And while Zayn and Naughty Boy's music remains unreleased and 'on a hard drive,' the producer revealed, Naughty Boy has bigger fish to fry.

His latest release, entitled Runnin' (Lose It All), is with heavy-hitter Beyonce, who has no doubt helped it to achieve its 13m Vevo views and 3m Spotify plays.

But as the famed producer revealed on Thursday, it was Beyonce who directly called him for a 20 minute chat in which Naughty Boy tried to maintain professionalism and not 'fangirl' the megastar.

But when it comes to keeping new music under wraps, Naughty Boy refused to accept responsibility for the Zayn music leak, shifting the blame to Krept.

The share seemed to run in tandem with Zayn's sensational backlash against his producer pal, which came three months after quitting his boyband to work on 'real music'.

Zayn appeared to turn on him with a series of tweets that read: '@NaughtyBoyMusic you fat joke stop pretending we're friends no one knows you.'

He then added: 'Someone learned how to upload a video... maybe now he should learn how to use logic ha you ain't s*** but a faker'.

While Naughty Boy did not respond to Zayn, he did share some cryptic tweets on Tuesday night saying, 'this "music" business teaches you the tricks but never the truth . you know who you are'.

He then added: 'don't feed the hand that bites you'.

Freak of the Week hitmakers Krept and Konan revealed in June that they had been working with Zayn as they told International Business Times that they had recorded the video for ‘No Type’.

The unexpected rant came after Zayn lashed out at his former bandmate Louis Tomlinson in defence of his producer pal Naughty Boy.

Zayn's former bandmate Louis was especially angered by Zayn's relationship with Naughty Boy - dubbed 'Zaughty' by the producer - and they played out their arguments similarly via Twitter.

On March 31, Naughty Boy removed a demo recording of Zayn's first solo effort from the web following a bitter backlash from disgruntled One Direction fans.

The minimalist R&B number, titled I Won’t Mind, emerged on music sharing platform Soundcloud, offering listeners an insight into the 22-year-old’s new recordings in the wake of his departure from the band.

But after a wave of outrage from fans, many of whom blame the enigmatic producer for Zayn’s abrupt departure from the chart-toppers midway through a world tour, Naughty Boy has opted to remove it from the site altogether.

Reacting to the wave of criticism that followed, the 30-year-old – real name Shahid Khan – wrote: ‘no one is against anyone here. the fans made all of us. not just a chosen few. the love is alive. hate just doesn't belong there.’
