A male audience-member spontaneously asked Keira to marry him minutes after she had taken to the stage for the first time.

The young man arose from his seat and made his way to the stage railing where he shouted at the mother-of-one and her co-star Gabriel Ebert.

Keira maintained a high level of dignity and professionalism throughout the disturbance, remaining in character and concentrating on giving the best performance she could.

However, her refusal to acknowledge him only wound him up further, causing him to shout: 'Five seconds is too long to wait for a response!'

A fellow show-goe-er wrote on Facebook: 'Show was stopped because an audience member, who I thought was part of the cast, stood up by the front mezzanine railing and asked Keira Knightley to marry him.

'He was escorted out, but not before he threw a huge bouquet of flowers from five rows up in the mezzanine on to the stage.'

Keira and her co-stars were forced to break from their roles when security approached the young man and asked him to leave.

Despite the less than ideal interference, the star of the show couldn't have looked happier as she made her way home.

Keira was fresh-faced as she only wore minimal make-up which allowed her natural beauty to shine through and her hair was styled in mermaid waves.

She was as impeccably dressed as always in a pair of grey tweed cropped trousers, a plain black top, a leather biker jacket and a pair of red leather shoes.
