Rising star: Amr Zaki celebrates after scoring for Wigan

Amr Zaki has revealed how a few home comforts at Wigan have helped turn him into the Premier League's hottest prospect.

The Egyptian striker has struggled to adapt outside his homeland and endured a nightmare loan spell with Lokomotiv Moscow in 2006, spending just three months in the Russian capital because of the freezing temperatures.

But Zaki has been a revelation during his season-long loan spell at the Latics, scoring five times in his first seven games.

He told the Sun: "I'm not very proud of the experience at Lokomotiv. I only stayed for three months and did not play a game because I suffered from homesickness and the terrible climate.

"But it is very different at Wigan. I knew what was waiting for me and I am getting all the support I need.

"The club are doing their best to make me feel comfortable and even helped bring my family to England to make me feel at home."
