Wheely fun! Ed O'Neill goes shirtless as he cruises through LA on trusty bicycle

Ed O'Neill got his heart pounding for another invigorating bike ride shirtless through Los Angeles on Thursday.

The 69-year-old wore little more than his beige shorts while pedalling through a neighbourhood on his trusty vintage style orange-gold bike.

Ed looked relaxed as he gripped the handle bars, with an item that appeared to be his black shirt thrown into his bike's basket.

The Modern Family star accessorised the look with a silver watch and a pair of black sunglasses.

He protected his vision with a pair of black sunglasses, and kept it comfortable with worn, suede shoes.

Zipping through the side of the road and beside various parked cars, Ed looked refreshed as he pedalled his way at a leisurely pace.

It's clear Ed is a fan of bike riding - the actor was spotted cycling through Santa Monica earlier in September as well.

This show of exercise comes nearly a month after Entertainment Weekly reported the actor was going to be a part of Family Guy's 14th season.

Ed will voice Joe Swanson's father who comes to Quahog. He is slated to pop up on only one episode.

'[O'Neill]'s a lot of fun to work with and that turned out to be a great episode. I wouldn't be surprised if we come back to him, too,' Steve Callaghan, the show's executive producer, said.

Family Guy premieres September 27 at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.

Ed will be joined by Ashton Kutcher and John Mellencamp on the Seth MacFarlane show.

Steve told the website that Ashton, who will portray himself, was given 'ridiculous dialogue' for his guest role.

Kutcher's wife Mila Kunis already plays Meg Griffin on the animated show.
