She enjoyed chatting to Justin Bieber on Wednesday during a live broadcast from Bieber Island.

But on Friday Samantha Armytage enjoyed getting acquainted with another young rising musician while hosting Sunrise.

Taking to the stage live from Melbourne's Federation Square with co-host David Koch, the Channel Seven presenter was very friendly with 5 Seconds Of Summer drummer Ashton Irwin while interviewing the Australian band.

After having wrapped up a question and answer session with the music group following some of their onstage performances, Samantha was seen thanking the band for appearing on the show.

But before they could leave the 39-year-old was thrilled to learn that 21-year-old Ashton was quite the fan.

The dark-haired cutie, who is said to be dating 22-year-old model Bryana Holly, admitted he really liked a certain piece of Samantha's attire.

While the television presenter had unleashed her inner rock chick with some skintight leather trousers, it was her deep khaki jacket that impressed Ashton the most.

To show his appreciation for her outfit, Ashton was seen leaning towards her in a bid to smell it.

Blushing, the bubbly blonde burst into a fit of giggles while claiming to share a mutual fondness for Ashton.

Later on she took to Instagram with a fun selfie of the pair, writing alongside the closeup snap: 'We ALL the 5-SOS boys ... But Ashton Is my favourite (don't tell anyone!)'.

Eyes on Sam: As the Channel Seven star quizzed the other band members, Ashton seemingly stared at Samantha

It was just two days earlier that Samantha had the opportunity to interview Justin Bieber.

The 21-year-old Canadian pop star performed live from Cockatoo Island on Sydney Harbour in a 'Bieber Island' special, and Samantha was quick to inform Justin that she was quite the fan.

At one point Samantha looked to be fishing for a compliment - which she didn't receive - when she remarked: 'I'm not technically your demo[graphic], I'm a little bit older than that'.

While the Canadian hitmaker failed to pick up on the hint, Kochie did and stepped in with a sympathetic: 'No! Don't think that!'

'Justin, you're supposed to say "no",' laughed Sam, to which he replied: 'Well you say what you want.'

'You're blushing right now,' he added to heighten the awkwardness.

Just before hitting the stage to perform his latest track, Justin produced another blush-worthy moment from popular host Sam when he unexpectedly reached across to give her a hug mid sentence.

'You're the best, thank you,' he said to the blonde presenter while completely ignoring her co-host - who didn't even get a hand shake.
