Joaquin Phoenix joins his three sisters and mother Arlyn as they gather to honour his late brother River at PETA event
He has been a successful actor for over three decades.
But despite all the fame and the fortune, Joaquin Phoenix certainly hasn't forgot where he came from.
The 40-year-old actor joined his three sisters and their mother Arlyn Phoenix at PETA's 35th Anniversary Party in Hollywood on Wednesday night.

The family was on-hand to present the River Phoenix award to Shaun Monson.
Joaquin had his arm around younger sister Summer as they were joined by other sisters Rain and Liberty at the red carpet gala held in the Hollywood Palladium.
The Gladiator actor rocked his regular casual cool style as he wore a crisp white dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up and a patterned tie.
He tucked most of the top into skinny black jeans complete with a matching leather belt and worn-out Converse low-top Chuck Taylor shoes.
Altogether now: Summer Phoenix, Joaquin, Jeffrey Wiseberg, Rain, mother Arlyn and Liberty
Dapper: The Gladiator had his hair slicked back as he sported a white dress shirt and patterned black tie
His short black locks were combed back as he shielded his eyes with a pair of black clubmaster shades.
Summer, 36, looked stylish in a royal blue sleeveless velour dress along with strappy black sandals.
Matriarch of the family, 70-year-old Arlyn, looked lovely in a shiny grey gown with a matching short shawl.

They were also joined by Jeffrey Wiseberg, who is the executive director of the River Phoenix Center For Peace Building.
Their older brother River was a successful young actor before his life was cut short due to a drug overdose in October 1993.
Earlier this year Joaquin starred in Woody Allen drama flick Irrational man. His next project is an untitled M. Night Shymalan project set for release sometime next year.
