Dan Carter caught the Underground across London with other members of the New Zealand squad on Wednesday and posted a picture online.

He hopped on with Julian Savea, Sonny-Bill Williams, Jerome Kaino and Kieran Read and commented: ‘Better than sitting in traffic!’

Canada's kitchen staff needed a supermarket scramble for steaks after the squad consumed 22lbs of roast beef in 15 minutes.

The players need more than 5,000 calories a day, with an allowance of bacon, pancakes, maple syrup, blueberries, strawberries and yoghurt on match days.

An internet hunt has started to find the Gloucester fan who saved a fellow England supporter’s life on Friday night.

A man wearing a Cherry and Whites shirt gave CPR to Phil Henderson on the park-and-ride service out of Twickenham, before departing without leaving his details.
