Rihanna commits the ultimate fashion faux pas with socks and sandals as she swamps her fabulous figure in baggy black layers

Covering up from top to toe is not what Rihanna is typically recognised for.

But when Rihanna swamped her figure on Thursday at Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport, she seemed to have taken special care to dress her feet - even though it was the ultimate fashion faux pas.

The 27-year-old added socks with sandals to altogether uncharacteristic outfit; layering up in a black baggy jumper and wide leg trousers that hung from her lithe frame.

The redhead was a far cry from her party girl self, favouring shapeless black over her typical bright, figure-hugging and barely-there choices.

She was almost unrecognisable as she left Santiago De Chile for the French capital in time for Fashion Week and was hidden behind mirror shades but still shooting her winning smile and a wave for the cameras.

Rihanna was dressed in trousers that trailed the ground and a large hoodie that hung loosely off her shoulders and almost reached her knees in length.

The Umbrella singer capped off the look with lime green socks inside black sandals that could be considered offensive inside some fashion circles.

Though, knowing the trend-setter, she's sure to make a thing of the style and have fans following in her footsteps.

The shoes seemed to be a black version of the fuzzy slip on sandals that Rihanna is owning on her recent Fader magazine cover.

Rihanna designed the pink pair as part of her Puma collection, on which she serves as Women’s Creative Director.

The collection sold out within hours of it going on sale proving that there's still a real appetite for any styles that she puts her name or face to.

Rihanna will be spending the rest of the week in the style capital to be on the front row at Fashion Week where the other stars are.
