Gwyneth Paltrow's website Goop pokes fun at 'conscious uncoupling' as it promotes self-help book for 'modern break-ups'

Gwyneth Paltrow thrust the term 'conscious uncoupling' into the mainstream when she split from Chris Martin after 11 years of marriage last year.

And now her lifestyle website Goop, the same website that announced the news of her marriage break-down, has poked fun at the furore they caused that pivotal day.

Promoting a book called Conscious Uncoupling: 5 Steps to Living Happily Ever After - the perfect antidote to the modern day break-up - Goop stated: 'We definitely broke the internet when GP referenced this specific, gentler way to break up back in 2014.

'Originally coined and taught by the brilliant marriage and family therapist Katherine Woodward Thomas, the concept conscious uncoupling had quietly inspired and influenced a community of counsellors – until, of course, we accidentally blew it up.'

The site continued: 'After the initial WTF?!?, there was a lot of interest in what it actually means, and as GP, her ex, and their children have continued to stay very much a family in spite of the split, there has been a lot of interest in how to actually do it.'

The self-help manual 'outlines and delves into ways a relationship can be completed and used as an opportunity for true healing and empowerment'.

And it would have been a must-read for Gwyneth, who remains very close with the father of her two children, Moses, nine, and Apple, 11.

Gwyneth and Chris broke the news of their marital split in March 2014, writing: 'It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate.'

They went on to explain that the split had been on the cards for 'well over a year' and that in many ways they were closer than ever.

'We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and co-parent, we will be able to continue in the same manner,' the statement continued.

The couple, who wed in a secret ceremony in Mexico in December 2003, have remained friends although they have both moved on.

Paltrow is now dating Brad Falchuk, the co-creator of Glee, while Chris has been linked to the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Kylie Minogue and Peaky Blinders actress Annabelle Wallis over the past few months.
