Adidas have evoked the spirit of the 1980s by releasing a new Originals collection based on Manchester United's 1985 FA Cup-winning kit.

United beat Everton 1-0 at Wembley thanks to Norman Whiteside's famous extra time goal and lifted the trophy in style wearing a classic adidas strip.

Inspired by that moment, adidas, United's kit sponsor, have released an 11-item collection of shirts and jackets.

The clothing is based on the red and green of the outfield and goalkeeper's shirt worn that afternoon, incorporating design features such as the v-neck collar and three-stripe design on the sleeve.

Over 100,000 fans were at the original Wembley and the iconic stadium is referenced on the United anthem jacket in the collection.

United, managed by Ron Atkinson at that time, won the final despite Kevin Moran being sent off for a foul on Peter Reid, clean through on goal, late in the second half.

Everton were chasing a Treble of league title, FA Cup and European Cup Winners' Cup but it wasn't to be their day.

Deep into stoppage time, Whiteside cut inside and curled the ball beyond Everton keeper Neville Southall to settle the contest in United's favour.

This was United's sixth FA Cup win and they have since won it five times more, in 1990, 1994, 1996, 1999 and 2004.

The adidas Originals Manchester United collection is available in stores on October 1 with items priced between £28 and £62.
