Earlier in the week, twenty residents had to be evacuated after a mammoth 66ft sinkhole opened up overnight in their quiet cul-de-sac in St Albans, Hertfordshire. If you lived on a street and a sinkhole appeared, would you be covered under a standard home insurance policy? This is Money asked major insurers...

Cheaper than Mumbai, Bangkok and Manila... Bucharest is the bargain city for a low-cost break while Zurich's no surprise as most expensive for visitors
NEW Visit the Romanian capital with a friend and you could get away with spending just £172, for a 'first-class' hotel room with meals, car hire and a few other spends, according to UBS. It is 15 per cent cheaper than Mumbai, in second place, and half the price of Athens, where the collapsed economy is perhaps not fully reflected in the prices being charged to visitors.

MONEY NEWS & ADVICE
Is this a good tax trick to boost your nest egg? How pension recycling works (but you would have to tread carefully or risk a fine)
'Pension recycling' allows people to boost their retirement pot by generating extra tax relief - but anyone tempted risks a financial penalty if they overstep the rules. In theory, anyone aged between 55 and 75 could withdraw up to £7,500 in one year from their pension pot and put up to 30 per cent of it back in again, gaining a tax advantage as a result. But recycling higher sums or breaking a host of other HMRC rules - including a ban on doing anything that is 'pre-planned' - can potentially attract charges amounting to 55 per cent of the sum involved.
Ten of the best used 4x4s for families from luxury badges to ideal school-run motors that won't break the bank
Families buy 4x4s for a host of reasons, for some it's the obvious excellent all-terrain ability, while for others it's for the space and practicality. Covering all the popular family SUV-buyer's needs - from luxury to the school run - we reveal a countdown of the top ten used 4x4s compiled by WhatCar?
The key to selling a house quickly? Tidy your garden and brush up your manners, poll of buyers reveals
Property sellers hoping to receive a quick offer on their home should brush up on their manners, make sure their garden is looking good and stick on a fresh pot of coffee. The seller's personality can be a crucial factor in boosting - or reducing its appeal - a survey of home buyers by Sarah Beeny's online estate agent Tepilo has found.

SMALL CAP MOVERS: Good week for miner Alecto as it pals up with Desert Gold, says on look-out for a pre-production acquisition
Alecto has joined forces with its neighbour, Toronto-listed Desert Gold, to assess whether joint development of their respective deposits in Mali was feasible. Given the parlous state of the mining sector, it is a surprise this sort of thing does not happen more often. Alecto's results statement also revealed it is on the look-out for an acquisition that would turn it into a pre-production company with near-term revenue potential.

SIMON LAMBERT: As the Government closes its pension consultation, it seems the days are numbered for untaxed saving
In the few short months since George Osborne' Summer Budget, the finance industry appears to have simply resigned itself to higher rate tax relief vanishing. But the idea of removing the principle of pension investing from untaxed income is one born of knowing the price of everything and the value of nothing.
Ten questions you need to ask yourself when investing for income in retirement
New pension freedom rules give you greater choice when it comes to retirement income, but with it more responsibility to make sure you don't run out of money in your golden years. We look at ten points to consider when investing income for retirement - from the level of risk you can afford to take to whether it's better to invest for income or growth.
'Stop moaning.... you're better off': Pensions Minister hits back at millions left fuming because they won't be getting the full £151-a-week payment
In her first major newspaper interview since taking up her post, poacher turned gamekeeper Baroness Altmann has fought back at critics who claim the new system is unfair. She said those who complain about deductions to their payout simply do not understand how the old and new state pensions work and those affected had actually benefited hugely from generous tax breaks during their working career.
ASK TONY: My insurer rejected a claim because I am not living with my partner who is caring for her elderly parents
My partner and I were due to go on holiday to Madeira in May. In late April, my partner was abroad with her elderly parents, aged 91 and 85, for whom she is the primary carer. Her father hired a mobility scooter which was faulty and sent him flying down a steep hill, where it turned over. He suffered multiple injuries.
Thinking of taking out equity release? Meet the retired couple who must pay Aviva £135,000 to spend their last years together
After more than 60 years of marriage Roy and Jean Tamplin, from Cardiff, (pictured together today and on their wedding day in 1953) were suddenly faced with a heart-breaking decision. Roy's health was deteriorating quickly. Jean's eyesight was also failing. But when they came to sell their house to move into sheltered accommodation, they were given a devastating ultimatum by insurer Aviva who said the couple must pay a £16,430 fine if they wanted to move out and stay together.
