It’s his first appearance on the BBC since being sensationally sacked seven months ago for his fracas with a Top Gear producer.

And Jeremy Clarkson received a rough ride from the Have I Got News For You panel on Thursday during a recording for Friday night’s programme, with reports claiming he was the butt of most of the jokes.

The 55-year-old presenter will appear on the current affairs show with team captains Ian Hislop and Paul Merton - the latter of whom pretended to punch himself in the head and fall off his chair.

According to the Daily Mirror, Hislop also mocked Clarkson’s multi-million pound deal with online entertainment giant Amazon, adding: 'I thought you’d be delivering packages to my door’.

Meanwhile, after guest Richard Osman goaded him about his Top Gear successor Chris Evans, fellow panellist Camilla Long quipped: 'Go on Jeremy, punch him.'

And Hislop likened him to newly-elected Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, adding: 'A man called Jeremy who has extreme views and won’t be in a job for long.'

Yesterday, Clarkson looked in good spirits as he took a break in between shooting his BBC return, enjoying a few minutes of fresh air in between shoots at ITV Studios on London's South Bank.

The former BBC star was forced to pull out of the last series of the satirical show following the furore over his fracas with Oisin Tymon.

Clarkson and his fellow ex-Top Gear presenters James May and Richard Hammond - who left along with him - have lined up a big-money move to Amazon for a new motoring show to be broadcast on streaming service, Amazon Prime.

The new show, which is thought to be called Gear Knobs, will reportedly see Clarkson take the title of Britain's highest paid TV host.

It has been claimed the star will draw the equivalent of his annual BBC salary for each episode, taking home more than £10million.
