A drunk University of Connecticut student was arrested after he repeatedly refused to leave a cafeteria until he got some mac and cheese.

But not just any mac and cheese – bacon jalapeno mac and cheese.

Luke Gatti, 19, from Bayville, New York, was filmed as he was asked to leave the university’s Union Street Market in Storrs because he had entered with an open can of beer on Sunday.

He was arrested at around 10pm and charged with breach of peace and criminal trespass with bail set at $1,500. He is due to appear in court on October 13.

The manager told Gatti he would not be served because he had brought an open can of beer into the building

His nine-minute stand-off with the market’s manager was recorded by a bystander and posted on YouTube the following day, where it has since amassed more than 60,000 views.

In the clip, the manager is seen calmly telling Gatti that he will not be served because he brought alcohol into the building, which is prohibited, and also because they are out of the dish Gatti is so desperate for.

'Try Subway,' the manager tells him.

But Gatti - dressed in sweatpants, socks and sandals – refuses to comply and instead, is seen repeatedly hurling abuse at the manager, including a homophobic slur.

When the manager asks his age, Gatti admits he is 19 and therefore has been underage drinking.

And when he notices the person filming, he tells the manager: ‘This is getting posted somewhere and you’re gonna look like a f****** tool.’

'Just let me get some mac and cheese,' he says.

The manager stands firm, telling him: 'You are not welcome here. You have booze on your breath, you told me you're underage.'

Then, after Gatti shoves the manager again, a cook pulls the student into a wrestling hold and forces him to the ground, shouting: 'I told you, you don't touch my boss.'

By this time, a crowd of students have formed around them to watch the spectacle.

‘I was just trying to get f****** food,’ he continues to insist.

‘You don't do it by assaulting people,’ he is told.

And when the police eventually arrive and handcuff Gatti, he finally realizes his mistake and begins to cry, adding: ‘F***! I’m absolutely f*****.’

In the chaos, Gatti loses his sandals – which are actually right next to his head - and is extremely concerned about locating them.

But in a final insult to the manager, Gatti tries to spit at him before being taken out of the building in handcuffs just before 10pm.

According to a UConn Police report seen by Daily Mail Online, Gatti has been charged with breach of peace and criminal trespass after the incident.

The report said: 'On October 4 at about 9.54pm, police received a 911 call reporting a disturbance in the Union Street Market in the Student Union.

'While responding, the 911 caller reported the male in question was refusing to leave the market and the disturbance had now become physical.'

It continued: 'Upon arrival, police saw Gatti being detained by Union Street Market employees. Police took Gatti into custody and learned through statement that Gatti had been refused service due to drinking alcohol in the market.

'After being told to leave serve several times, Gatti refused and became verbally and physically abusive with staff. Gatti shoved the manager several times before he was detained by staff.'

Stephanie Reitz, a spokesman for the University of Connecticut, told Daily Mail Online: 'Federal student privacy provisions prevent UConn from discussing potential discipline cases involving individual students.

'Generally speaking, any UConn student found to have violated the provisions of the Student Code may face penalties imposed by the Division of Student Affairs that range from probation to expulsion.'

And it is not the first time Gatti has thrown a tantrum that landed him in trouble with police.

He was arrested twice in September last year when he was a student at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.

Only in the Republic of Amherst reported he was arrested on September 1, 2014, and charged with disorderly conduct after throwing a ‘temper tantrum’ when he was told to move out of the street by police.

A police report said he shouted ‘f**** you n*****’ at the officer. He was ordered to pay a $100 fine and was placed on probation for four months.

He was later arrested for assaulting a police officer who had been trying to break up a party.

MassLive.com reported Gatti was charged with disorderly conduct and assault and battery on a police officer. The outcome of that incident is not known.
