Leigh Halfpenny having to watch from home as Wales march towards Rugby World Cup quarter-finals despite missing their talisman

Wales' injured full back Leigh Halfpenny is having to watch his team-mates exploits from the comfort of his own home, after knee surgery ruled him out of the Rugby World Cup.

Halfpenny was set to play a big part in his country's campaign, but instead suffered the serious damage to his right leg in a warm-up game.

And while Wales have secured progress to the last eight, thanks largely to a win over England at Twickenham, Halfpenny has been stuck at home watching on TV.

The talented full back posted a picture to Instagram showing his leg in a thick cast after the surgery as he put his feet up and played computer games.

Halfpenny accompanied the picture with the message: 'Sums up my last few weeks #recovery'.

However, he will take comfort from his team-mates performances thus far, with Wales able to top the most difficult Pool in the tournament if they beat Australia on Saturday.
