Police told Dailymail.com that last Thursday around 2:30pm at West 48th Street and 7th Avenue, two uniformed officers saw a man with two snakes around his neck.

According to authorities, the man was trying to place the snakes on people walking by and panhandle.

Police said the man, identified as 34-year-old Jason Wilson, was issued a criminal complaint summons for possession of wild animals.

The snakes were taken to animal control, according to authorities.

However, Wilson told Dailymail.com on Wednesday: 'I wasn't panhandling.'

He said he uses the snakes to educate members of the public.

'I've always been a reptile lover,' he explained.

Wilson said he accepts donations if they are offered. He said he uses the money received to support himself and his family.

According to Wilson, he got the snakes back one day after they were taken to animal control.

He said he plans to fight the summons.
