It's John Thinman! Actor Goodman shows off drastic weight loss at Trumbo film premiere

He once admitted to being 400lbs but it seems that John Goodman is now a changed, and much thinner, man.

The 63-year-old actor cut a slim figure as he attended the Trumbo film premiere in London on Thursday night.

It appears that John has lost a considerable amount of weight in recent months and was a shadow of his former self, looking almost unrecognisable as he took to the red carpet with co-stars Dame Helen Mirren and Bryan Cranston.

The Monuments Men star appears to be at his slimmest ever and he's clearly had a lifestyle overhaul over the past year.

He was looking considerably heavier at The Gambler premiere last November.

John has been open about his battle with his weight and following a considerable weight loss in 2010 he explained how he had once seen his weight creep up to over 28 stone.

Get Helen's leading lady look in a dress coat by Suzannah

As Helen Mirren arrived for the Trumbo premiere she totally blew us away - just look how cute she is!

She might be 70, but that never holds Helen back on the style front, usually stepping out in designer frocks including the likes of Dolce and Gabbana, Jenny Packham and Elie Saab. But here at the premiere, Helen opted to wear the brand Suzannah and she looked rather regal, which is coincidental with the fact that both Princess Beatrice and the Duchess of Cambridge have both worn the designer before, not to mention Pippa too!

This gorgeous coat dress is such a style statement that we're all dying to get our hands on it which is convenient because it's actually up for grabs (right).

We've tried to recreate the look below on the high street (no mean feat) and while satin coats were hard to come by, we've outlined a selection of A-line dresses in the style below to help you get the look for less.

When asked about his heaviest weight, he told David Letterman: 'Plenty ... [I was] pushing 400 ... Somewhere up around there.'

He added that trying to stay in shape was an ongoing battle.

John said: 'I'm not going to look like Paris Hilton or anything like that. It's going to be an ongoing process for the rest of my life.'

Five years on and it appears that John has finally conquered his battle with the bulge and appeared in great spirits as he arrived at Leicester Square with his co-stars on Thursday.

John plays the role of Hollywood producer Frank King in the flick, which tells the true story of Oscar-winner Dalton Trumbo (Bryan Cranston).

Screenwriter Trumbo and a number of his friends become blacklisted for their Communist political beliefs and are ultimately sent to prison after battling both the Government and Hollywood studio bosses.

After being released Dalton struggles to find work and is forced to churn out screenplays under pseudonyms for King.
