ENGLAND 2-0 ESTONIA - NEIL ASHTON AT WEMBLEY: There had been fighting talk from Theo Walcott when he claimed that the whole country wanted him to start in his favourite position for England. It was the new Walcott, casting himself in the tough-guy role after years playing second fiddle to Olivier Giroud at Arsenal and pretty much regarded as an afterthought with the national team. Suddenly the guy means business. He is playing his way into the starting line up for England, very much man of the moment again after scoring the opening goal in this functional, ordinary victory over Estonia.

The Barclays Premier League leaders are already in a spin with the news that Sergio Aguero is set to miss a month with a thigh tear, and Silva's troubles add to their concerns. The Spanish playmaker, 29, was replaced by Manchester United's Juan Mata at the Estadio Las Gaunas with an ankle injury after a wayward challenge from Lars Gerson.

The pair posed for photos on the touchline before injured Rooney resumed his place as a spectator as his team-mates made it nine wins from nine for Roy Hodgson's men.
Will peace break out at Real? Benitez tries to get Ramos back on side after Ronaldo and Benzema spats show power of players
PETE JENSON IN SPAIN: Player power seems alive and kicking at Real Madrid after Rafa Benitez was pressured into calling Sergio Ramos to explain comments he made about the player after Sunday's Madrid derby draw. Benitez had been asked after the game if any of the mistakes had particularly upset him and he bemoaned Ramos' moment of madness in the first half that saw him give the ball away and then recover only to fly into a tackle in the area and concede a penalty.

Honey Monster Klopp gets the viral treatment as he arrives in Anfield as new Liverpool boss (via Abbey Road)
Very rarely is a newly appointed manager wished well by their former employers but new Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been sent best wishes by former club Borussia Dortmund. The gregarious German signed a three-year deal, with a salary of more than £6million per season, on Thursday to begin his reign at Anfield. However, Klopp had previously spent seven successful seasons with the Bundesliga outfit, who clearly still hold a fond affection for their previous leader.

I was too fat after my holiday admits Costa as Chelsea squad back under-fire manager Mourinho
MATT BARLOW: Diego Costa admits he was overweight and out of shape when he returned for pre-season and that Chelsea's players thought it would be easy to defend their title. Costa spoke out in defence of manager Jose Mourinho on Thursday, claiming the players had been complacent and must shoulder more of the blame for a terrible start to the campaign. 'I'm going to be very honest,' said Costa. 'Five or six weeks ago, I was not on top of my game, at least physically.

Nadal - who currently sits at No 8 in the world rankings - booked his place in a first hard-court semi-final since the Miami Masters in March 2014 by coming back from a set down to beat American Jack Sock 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 in Beijing on Friday. But Nadal now faces a tricky test against Fognini, the Italian who has won three of their four meetings this year in Rio De Janeiro, Barcelona and at the US Open in New York, where it was the first time ever that Nadal had lost from two sets up at a Grand Slam.

RUGBY WORLD CUP
England attempt to lift themselves for dead rubber with Uruguay at the Ethiad Stadium
England's Rugby World Cup campaign may already be over but the team appear determined to finish the tournament on a high with victory over Uruguay in their final Pool A clash. Stuart Lancaster's squad were put through their paces during the captain's run at the Etihad Stadium on Friday - a day before they go head-to-head with their South American opponents. England crashed out of the World Cup on home soil in embarrassing fashion after consecutive Twickenham defeats against bitter rival Wales and Australia.
New Zealand train in front of thousands of kids to prepare for last group clash against Tonga at St James' Park
Deep in football territory in the north of England, the All Blacks are on a charm offensive in an attempt to spread their rugby message. Nearly 5,000 people - mostly kids - turned up at their base in Darlington early on Thursday to watch New Zealand train, show off some skills, and engage in a question-and-answer session. The training facilities are the 'best we've ever had,' according to coach Steve Hansen. The All Blacks have talked up nearby Newcastle and its 'iconic' St James' Park football stadium, where they will play Tonga in their final Rugby World Cup pool game on Friday.

Gareth Bale and his Wales team-mates have jetted off to Bosnia as they bid to reach their first major finals since 1958. Chris Coleman's side go head-to-head with their opponents on Saturday knowing a point will book their place at next summer's Euro 2016 tournament in France. And the Wales team appear to be in joyous mood after Bale posed for a photo with team-mates James Collins, Aaron Ramsey, Chris Gunter, Joe Ledley and Wayne Hennessey.
Long slams home winner as Republic beat world champions Germany to set up Poland decider and keep Euro dream alive
CRAIG HOPE AT THE AVIVA STADIUM: Martin O'Neill laughed at Joachim Low's snipe that Ireland's '100th long ball' had proved Germany's undoing - but their interpretation mattered not after Shane Long scored the goal to topple the world champions. The famous victory means O'Neill's men are guaranteed a place in the play-offs and will progress automatically to Euro 2016 with victory in Poland on Sunday, while even a 2-2 draw or higher would be enough. And they have substitute Long to thank, the Southampton striker scampering onto a long punt downfield from goalkeeper Darren Randolph before smashing into the top corner 20 minutes from time.
Yeovil Town give their fans chance to vote for next season's home kit - but can you tell the difference between these options?
Yeovil Town have given fans the chance to vote for next season's home kit, with the League Two club deciding to stick with traditional green and white hoops. In fact, the three options are all very similar, with only a slight difference in the sleeves and collar. Kits one and two are almost identical, bar a darker green on the former, while kit three opts for black sleeves. The shorts are green, with the only difference coming in the colour of the cord. Fans on Twitter picked up on the similarities, with one user noting: 'I like the green and white one!'
Lewandowski strikes at the death to break Scotland hearts and end Euro hopes
SCOTLAND 2-2 POLAND - STEPHEN MCGOWAN AT HAMPDEN PARK: A nation which gave much to the world, Scotland's national team have now invented a new way to fail. Those who believed they had already furrowed every conceivable method were wrong. Even by the standards of the national team this was a painful almost unbearably cruel episode. A campaign which promised so much ended on Thursday night in a manner which was almost beyond parody. In cruelty beyond description. With a 94th minute Poland equaliser. An improbable, ridiculous win for Ireland over world champions Germany. Since reaching the last major finals in 1998 Scotland's footballing public have become conditioned to failure. But this? This was ridiculous.

NICK HARRIS: The Premier League is on course to sell overseas TV rights for 2016 to 2019 for more than £3billion, or more than £1billion a year, Sportsmail can reveal. England's top division is the most popular sports league in the world in terms of territories covered and income gained from foreign sales. This eye-watering sum means the Premier League earns more from foreign rights alone each year than any major European rival - Spain's La Liga, Germany's Bundesliga, Italy's Serie A or France's Ligue 1 - make from ALL their TV rights annual, domestic and foreign combined
Mourinho pens tribute to his idol Clough in new book about legendary Forest manager
CHARLES SALE: Struggling Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has provided the foreword for a book of the critically-acclaimed new film about Brian Clough's glory days at Nottingham Forest. Mourinho never met Clough, with whom he shares the distinction of winning two European Cups. But the Special One is said to have been a big enough fan of Old Big 'Ead's Forest side, even though the Portuguese was still at school in their 1970s heyday, to provide an informed 2,000-word introduction to top journalist Daniel Taylor's book I Believe In Miracles. The publication accompanies the film that premieres at Forest's City Ground on Sunday.
