This is the estranged secret husband of Cathriona White, Jim Carrey's tragic ex-girlfriend.

Mark Burton, 38, was listed as her next of kin on official documents but the couple had separated and were planning to divorce later this year.

Burton, a Hollywood cameraman, is understood to be a Scientologist, and has previously lived in Clearwater, Florida, where the church has its headquarters.

He now lives in the small town of McMinnville, Oregon, where he has not been seen since his estranged wife's suicide last week.

Home: Burton lives in this town in Oregon

His home, an old-fashioned clapperboard house painted dove gray, sits in a quiet tree-filled suburb of the town of 32,000 people, in Yamhill County, south-west of Portland.

Burton has not been seen regularly over the last week and generally keeps a low profile. His white pick-up truck has not moved all week.

It is not known if he was travelling - like Carrey - to White's funeral in her family's Catholic parish church, which is being held tomorrow.

White was found dead in her Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles home last Monday night and is thought to have committed suicide.

The 30-year-old had been in an on-off relationship with actor Jim Carrey who last night flew into Dublin ahead of her funeral which will be held in Cappawhite, County Tipperary, tomorrow.

White was brought up in the Catholic faith but later became a Scientologist. It emerged today that she first came into contact with Scientology in Ireland, and then traveled to Los Angeles.

The church claims she left them six months ago. Carrey is know not to be Scientologist.

On their Las Vegas wedding certificate, White gave his home town as McMinnville. Public records suggest he was brought up in California and had also spent time in his twenties in Los Angeles and suburban New York.

It is not clear where he was actually living at the time, as public records show he bought his home in the Oregon town this year for $150,000.

Other public records suggest that he had business interests in California at the time. He has however held local hunting licences at a different address in the town.

The marriage was disclosed earlier this week. It took place a few months after White's father had died and she had apparently been unable to leave the United States for the funeral, as she did not have legal immigration status.

A wedding would have regularized her status.

'I understand that she and Mr Burton were going to divorce but they were still officially married at the time of her death so he is her official next-of-kin. However, he can cede his right to her possessions to her family if he wishes,' Ed Winter, the assistant chief of the Los Angeles coroner’s office, told The Times of London.

He also said that many of White's friends were not even aware of the fact that she was married, despite the fact that he was listed as next-of-kin on the death certificate.

The 30-year-old make up artist from Cappawhite, Co Tipperary is believed to have taken her own life after splitting with Jim Carrey, 53.

It was previously thought she became a Scientologist after moving to the US in 2009, but now it has emerged that she had become close friends with a family of eccentric artists, and well-known members of the church in Ireland.

Cathriona White was first introduced to scientology after meeting the millionaire Helnwein family who own Gurteen castle near her home in Co Tipperary, who are very well connected members of the organisation

According to Tony Ortega, who has written extensively about Scientology, Gottfried Helnwein moved to Ireland in 1997.

Ortega claims it is through this connection to that White decided to move to Los Angeles, where she met up with more Scientologists, including her future husband.

It was during this time that she met her future husband on the set of the internet-only TV show 'The Online Gamer'. Many of those involved in the show, including Mark Burton, were scientologists.

White was only an extra on the show, but she started a secret relationship with Burton, whom she married in January 2013.

After her marriage, she was able to return to Ireland for her sister's wedding and it was believed she was planning to return for Christmas.

While in Los Angeles, Ms White took a number of scientology courses.

Hundreds of mourners are due to pay their respects to Ms White and her family this weekend.

Several suicide notes were found in Ms White's home and police discovered her body next to prescription pills, some of which were reportedly obtained under an alias used by Jim Carrey.

Cathriona's mother Brigid, has also traveled to Cappawhite from her adopted home in England where she had been living for the past number of years.

Ms White's requiem mass is to take place on Saturday at 11.30am.

Due to the number of mourners expected at tomorrow's funeral, a special speaker system has been set up outside Our Lady of Fatima Church in Cappawhite to broadcast the service.
