She burst onto the scene as a fresh-faced teenager, but by the looks of things, Katie Holmes' appearance has hardly changed.

The 36-year-old actress took to Instagram on Thursday to share a throwback picture of her and her older sisters to her 228k followers.

She captioned the snap: '#TBT my sisters and me 1995 #familylove #sisterlove #ohio' [sic].

The family photo was taken twenty years ago, when Katie would have been 16 - before she'd even auditioned for Dawson's Creek.

The actress is seen smiling into the camera with two of her sisters, with the three of them sharing similar dark locks and matching million-watt smiles.

Two years after the picture was taken, the Ohio native - who's the youngest of five children - was cast as Joey Potter in the teen drama, catapulting her into the spotlight.

In a recent interview with Red magazine, Katie admitted she felt she had a 'telepathic' connection to her sisters.

She said: 'It’s important to be supportive and have people you can call at 3am. I have a group of friends I call, and my sisters.'

'If I’m thinking about my sister, she will end up calling me, it’s weird. Telepathic.'

Katie - who's mother to daughter Suri, nine, with ex-husband Tom Cruise - also expressed her down-to-earth personality in an Instagram snap she shared earlier this week.

She posted a photo of her boarding a dirty train in Penn Station - wearing a designer ballgown, captioning the picture: 'Heels and a train...nothing better #newyork #pennstation' [sic].

The star is currently directing, and starring in, the film All We Had, in which she plays the title role of Rita Carmichael - a struggling mother who's trying to better her life for her daughter.
