Truly angelic! Gwyneth Paltrow will play godmother to American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy's son... after being honored with Lifetime Impact Award for charity work

Gwyneth Paltrow had much to celebrate at Variety's Power of Women Luncheon in Beverly Hills on Friday.

The 43-year-old actress was being honored with the Lifetime Impact Award for her work with L.A. Kitchen.

However that wasn't the only honor bestowed upon the actress as mega-producer Ryan Murphy announced that Paltrow will play godmother to his second son, Ford who was born last October.

The American Horror Story creator presented the award to Paltrow as he took to the podium to reveal the important role the Iron Man actress will play in his child's life who turned one last week.

During his speech the Nip/Tuck creator explained that when Ford was born Murphy made a list of the qualities he wanted his son's godmother to possess, as reported by E! News.

'I wanted her to be kind and compassionate, spiritual, funny, basically a balm to sooth in this dark and cynical world,' he admitted.

'It was also important to me that my child's godmother have a best actress Oscar,' Murphy joked.

He continued, 'So I called my good friend Gwyneth Paltrow and I asked her if she would have us and she said yes and I consider my family to be blessed as a result.'

'As a younger gay, I was also obsessed with the legend of Gwyneth,' he confessed, according to Variety.

'But having known her now for 10 years, the thing that resonates with me the most is that none of these things are preoccupied with image or success when it comes to this lady.'

Other honorees at the luncheon included Oprah Winfrey, Salma Hayek, Anna Kendrick and YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki.

Variety's event honors women in the 'entertainment industry who use their public platform to raise awareness and work toward charitable causes,' according to their site.
