Selena Gomez throws herself back into work as she jets out of Los Angeles after revealing brave lupus battle

Selena Gomez made for a stylish traveler as she was photographed for the first time since opening up about her battle with lupus.

The 23-year-old was seen arriving at the airport in Los Angeles dressed in a flattering black-and-white dress that cinched at her trim waistline with a black belt.

The star was throwing herself back into work promoting her new single, days after revealing in an interview with Billboard that she had undergone chemotherapy to alleviate the symptoms of the autoimmune disease.

And although an interview with Ellen has since aired, this was the first time Selena had been photographed since her revelation.

The singer was joined by members of her entourage, who encircled the hit-maker as she strolled through the transport hub.

Clutching a black leather purse and her phone, the actress wore her long, jet black hair styled into full and glossy curls.

She highlighted her complexion with pink blush, lip gloss, while finishing off the super stylish look with a pair of white-and-silver sandals.

Selena stuns in silver sandals

Selena Gomez was spotted arriving in Los Angeles looking like quite a stylish traveler. The 23 year old fashionista, wore a crackled overlay, white midi dress styled with a thin belt and structured black bag, but what we're really coveting are her strappy heels.

Selena put the "no white after Labor Day" rule to rest in the Robert Clergerie "Lissia" heel. The gorgeous shoe features crossover straps of white and silver with a large buckle.

Our favorite pop star shows exactly how to pull off a monochromatic look. Start with the basics, add a bit of texture and finally throw on some bling. This formula is fool proof and Ms. Gomez demonstrates it masterfully.

We can't wait to get our hands on a pair of these shoes and you can too! You can find them at FORWARD and at a reduced price of $223. Or check out the carousel below for similar silver options.

Selena told this week's Billboard all about her health battle.

'That’s what my break was really about. I could've had a stroke,' Selena said of her time spent out of the spotlight after cancelling the Australian and Asian leg of her tour in December 2013.

Lupus is a complex and poorly understood condition that causes the body to mistakenly detect its own tissue as a foreign invader and attack itself.

For reasons that are unclear, the immune system fails to tell the difference between healthy tissue and germs and viruses that enter the system from the outside.

Lupus causes inflammation in many different body systems, including the joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart and lungs - and can be life-threatening.

Because the condition affects multiple organs in the body, it has the potential to cause a stroke in various ways, including triggering the formation of a blood clot.

When Selena announced she was cancelling the Asian and Australian leg of her tour, sources claimed she may have lupus, while others suggested she had issues with addiction.

'I wanted so badly to say, "You guys have no idea. I’m in chemotherapy. You're a**holes",' she told Billboard.

'I locked myself away until I was confident and comfortable again,' she added.

Her new album, she hopes, will silence her naysayers.

'The hate motivated me,' she explained. 'This is my time. I've deserved this. I earned it. This is all me.'

And Selena is certainly working hard, despite her health battles.

She is currently on a promotional blitz to support her new track Revival, which hit stores on Friday.
