While the script is still in development, it is understood the plot will follow a 12-year-old boy and his babysitter during a night when things take an unexpected turn for the worst.
It's also not known the genre of the film but the story line suggests it will be a thriller or possibly even horror movie.
McG is said to be so excited about the project that he went from originally producing the movie to taking on directing as well, according to the industry publication: 'to realize his vision for the script'.

Working with the Hollywood hot-shot should do big things for the Aussie soap star's career, after a slow start in Hollywood.

However, her transition to Hollywood hasn't been an instant success, having landed a number of small roles in US TV shows and other short films since heading to LA in 2013.
No-doubt the actress is hoping this new big budget flick will put her in the right direction to replicating the successful careers of other Home And Away alumni, such as Isla Fisher and Chris Hemsworth.
Samara will next be seen as Brianne in the film Monster Trucks, starring Rob Lowe and Danny Glover, due out in 2016.
Big things: No doubt the actress will be hoping the blockbuster will help her transition to big-time star in Hollywood like her fellow Home And Away alumni
