Kellie stunned audiences as she and Kevin danced to the Star Wars theme tune and acted as Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker respectively.

Over two weeks they have been joint fourth on the leader board however on Saturday night they soared to second place as they received a handsome 32 points, sharing the second spot with Call The Midwife actress Helen George.

Using light sabres as props they danced an impressive routine which included cart wheel lifts and various high-energy moves before Kellie screamed excitedly at the end of the dance.

Judge, Darcy Bussell ladled on the praise saying: 'Wow, Kellie. You should not be that good in week three. Fast, brilliant.'

Fellow judge, Len Goodman added: 'Kellie Bright and a Jedi Knight just right you put the move in movies' and Bruno Tonioli was just as happy with the moves: 'I could feel the force Princess Leia. Full of content but it wasn't overwhelmed by theme.'

The duo even managed to get praise from acid-tongued Craig Revel-Horwood: 'I thought it was clean it was tight it was precise, fantastic precision. The cane work was fantastic.'

Kevin described the dance as 'the most enjoyable week I've had on Strictly' - clearly dispelling his fears over Kellie's manic work schedule.

The dancer, who is engaged to fellow professional Karen Clifton, spoke out to Sunday People about the difficulties of Kellie working on EastEnders and Strictly.

He said: 'She has got limited hours because of her schedule. That hinders us. The other day we did about six hours. Sometimes we get three or hour fours.

'I think she is tired but she refuses to acknowledge it. She's a bit of a workhorse. She is a machine.'

It seems Kevin may be concerned due to the strength of his fellow professionals teams.

He added: 'The standard is extremely high. I did not think we would be able to top last year but I think it has already in terms of the standard. The pros are pushing each other as well in what they want to do with the dances.'

Coming above Kellie on the leader board was Jay McGuiness who received an eye-watering 37 points.

He was the first to receive a score of 10 - for his jaw-dropping Pulp Fiction-themed Jive on the BBC show.

The Wanted singer, 25, received a standing ovation from the audience after he got into character as John Travolta and danced opposite his partner Aliona Vilani, who did her best Uma Thurman impression.
