'Kanye is thinking about running for speaker': Obama gives 'Peezy' his tips on making it to the White House in 2020 as he parties with him and Kim... and can't help a dig at Republican expense

  • President Barack Obama gave Kanye West three tips for his 2020 campaign
  • Tongue-in-cheek advice warned him of 'reality TV characters' he would meet on a day-to-day basis
  • Also joked that the public would be 'cray' to vote in a black man from Chicago with an unusual name - like himself
  • The president also took some delight in the GOP's struggle to find a new House leader to replace John Boehner
  • Kanye performed at a Democratic National Committee fundraising event today in San Francisco where the most expensive ticket cost $10K
  • He flew in from Los Angeles with Kim Kardashian, their daughter North and tennis player Serena Williams

President Barack Obama has shared some sound advice on what it is like to run the United States with a potential future president, while also taking some digs at the Republican Party.

But while you might expect Obama to give tips to the likes of Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden or maybe even Donald Trump, the President was actually advising Kanye West.

While speaking at a Democratic National Committee fundraiser in San Francisco, Obama was discussing Kanye's recently announced political ambitions before he took the stage to perform Saturday.

'A little bit later you're gonna hear from a guy who I hear has been talking about launching a potential political career,' Obama said.

Poking fun at the stars of Keeping up with the Kardashians, Obama said: 'First of all you gotta spend a lot of time dealing with some strange characters who behave like they're on a reality TV show. So you've gotta be cool with that.

'This is a second important tip: saying that you have a beautiful, dark, twisted fantasy - that's what known as 'off-message' in politics. You can't say something like that.

'And number three: do you really think that this country is gonna elect a black guy from the south side of Chicago with a funny name to be president of the United States? That is crazy. That's cray.'

Obama is in San Francisco and Los Angeles Saturday for four fundraisers. NBA star Stephen Curry and other members of the Golden State Warriors warmed up the crowd, KGO reported.

The president also encouraged the audience to be politically active and says he plans to remain so when his presidency concludes, saying 'I'm just getting started.'

Kanye, 38, was seen arriving in San Francisco yesterday, taking a short flight from Los Angeles with pregnant wife Kim Kardashian, 34, and their two-year-old daughter North.

They were joined in a private jet by Kim's close friend tennis player Serena Williams.

Speaking with Vanity Fair after his recent New York Fashion Week presentation, Kanye said he 'definitely' plans on running for president in 2020.

He then went on to explain why he may be more qualified than many believe him to be, pointing out the education of his parents.

'I've got five years before I go and run for office and I've got a lot of research to do, I've got a lot of growing up to do,' he said.

'My dad has two masters degrees. My mom has a PhD, she used to work at Operation PUSH.

'Somehow the more and more creative I get, the closer and closer I get to who I was as a child. When I was a child, I was holding my mom's hand at Operation PUSH. I think it's time.'

Operation PUSH is the non-profit organization that was founded by Jesse Jackson to pursue social justice, civil rights and political activism.
