Agent Cooper back in action! Kyle MacLachlan returns to Laura Palmer's house to film Showtime's Twin Peaks

Kyle MacLachlan returned to Laura Palmer's spooky house in Everett, WA on Friday evening while filming Showtime's continuation of Twin Peaks.

A neighbour called Amanda shared Instagram images and video from the set of the highly-anticipated reboot, which premieres summer 2017.

In her cell phone footage, the 56-year-old Golden Globe winner could be seen suited up as FBI Agent Dale Cooper slowly escorting a Caucasian woman with an auburn bob through the home's front door.

MacLachlan even thanked fans for coming to watch, despite the creators' September 13 plea for the set to remain secret.

All nine episodes will be helmed by four-time Oscar nominee David Lynch and penned alongside co-creator Mark Frost.

Their supernatural soap opera ran on ABC for two seasons until its cancellation in 1991, but not before amassing three Golden Globes, two Emmy Awards, a Grammy, and cult status.

Twin Peaks centered on how the murder of the local prom queen Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) affected her entire town, especially parents Sarah (Grace Zabriskie) and Leland (Ray Wise).

Last year, the 69-year-old filmmaker reunited with the Palmer Family for a special feature called Between Two Worlds on the Blu-Ray release.

Sheryl, Grace, and Leland predicted their characters' fate 25 years later and there's no way Lynch wasn't inspired by their answers.

It would be heartbreaking for David not to incorporate the trio in some capacity - Black Lodge or otherwise - in the new series.

Earlier this month, TV Line revealed that Mulholland Drive's Robert Forster will be replacing Michael Ontkean as Sheriff Harry S. Truman.

Balthazar Getty - who starred in Lynch's Lost Highway in 1997 - is said to have signed onto the Showtime reboot as well.

Lovelace co-stars Amanda Seyfried and Peter Sarsgaard have reportedly joined the cast as well as The Hunger Games' Robert Knepper.

However, Showtime has only officially confirmed the return of one castmember - Kyle - who also appeared in Lynch's Dune, Blue Velvet, and the film prequel Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me.

-- SPOILER ALERT UNLESS YOU'VE SEEN SERIES --

In the second season finale, Agent Cooper remained imprisoned in the mysterious Black Lodge, while his doppelgänger - possessed by Killer Bob - escaped back into Twin Peaks.

However, this plot twist will be difficult to sustain since the death of Frank Silva (Killer Bob) in 1995 at age 45.

Meanwhile, Cooper's injured love interest - Annie Blackburn (Heather Graham) - was also said to be on the mend after escaping the Black Lodge.

Two more characters definitely not returning are the Log Lady and Pete Martell - played by Lynch's longtime collaborators Catherine Coulson (who died last month) and Jack Nance (who died in 1996).
