Shoppers are beating the 5p plastic bag charge by pushing their goods home in supermarket trolleys.
Customers are walking out of shops with trolleys stacked high with goods and then proudly posting evidence of the tactic on social media, after the charge was launched in England last Monday.
Aden Djvibe, a 26-year-old DJ from Trowbridge in Wiltshire, uploaded an image on Facebook of a Tesco trolley in his kitchen with the words: ‘5p for a bag, get f***ed - I got a £1 trolley.’

Twitter post: Shopper Briony Leigh said 'like f** am I paying 5p for a bag when I can have trolley for free'

Meanwhile Paul Griffiths from Manchester proudly posted a picture of a Morrisons trolley in his living room on Twitter, saying: ‘5p for a bag, quid for a trolley #NoBrainer #Needed6Bags.’
The Daily Mail revealed last week that Tesco staff had resorted to putting security tags on the store’s 10p ‘bags for life’ to stop them being stolen.
The extraordinary decision followed concerns that customers would be upset about the new charge and so willing to become thieves rather than bring their own bag or pay for one.

Innocent shoppers have become involved in ‘bag rage’ incidents since the 5p charge came in.
Two security guards at a Tesco in Leyton, east London, chased a woman as she tried to use a shopping basket to take a few items to her car.
They ran after 21-year-old singer Khalia Smith as she walked across the store’s car park, with one grabbing the handle of the basket to ensure she could not get away.
Other shoppers have reported confrontations with staff, who have forced them to empty their purchases on to the ground rather than allow them to use a basket to take purchases to their car.
