Feeling the pressure? Fresh faced Dannii Minogue appears downcast as she heads to lunch... as tensions rise on X Factor Australia ahead of double elimination

Dannii Minogue was seen looking somewhat downcast on Tuesday as she headed to lunch in Sydney's trendy Paddington area.

The 43-year-old showed off her flawless complexion with only a minimal application of makeup as she strolled the streets, making her way to Jackies Cafe.

However, tensions on the X Factor Australia set on Monday night's live show, still appear to be with the mentor, with strain visible on her face ahead of Tuesday evening's double elimination.

The singer in particular came under fire on Monday's show for her choice of song for young Georgia Denton.

Dannii was seen biting her lip pensively as she strolled down the street in an edgy meets bohemian inspired ensemble.

The blonde beauty, who's newly highlighted hair was blow dried straight and sat over her shoulders, also wore a grey T-shirt with the slogan 'Stoned on Paradise' emblazoned across the front.

Over the top the diminutive starlet donned a dark grey fringed kimono style wrap, while adding skinny blue jeans, which were ripped over the knees.

The fashion designer kept her accessories to a bare minimum, only seen wearing a long silver necklace, which cut into her T-shirt slogan.

Dannii also wore chunky black ankle-bootie length criss-cross lace heels to round out her casual and comfortable outfit for the day that left the TV personality looking younger than her years and showed off her rocking body.

Clearly in work mode, the mentor carried a black leather tote in hand like a briefcase.

Tension between this year's X Factor Australia panel, which includes Guy Sebastian, James Blunt and Chris Isaak, has been rising across the series - particularly between Dannii and James.

Things appeared to come to a head on Monday night's show when the duo clashed over Dannii's song choice for her 15-year-old contestant Georgia.

After Georgia belted her Jackson 5 song I'll Be There, the judges began hitting out at the mentor's song choice, saying the tune didn't suit her voice.

James took direct aim at Georgia's mentor, saying: 'I think the song choice is a bit pedestrian. I know you don't take criticism well, but that's what we all think.'

'Last time I said this, you bit my head off,' he added, referencing week one of the live shows.

The English singer-songwriter suggested to Dannii that she pick songs that worked to Georgia's vocal strengths, rather than against.

With negative remarks coming from everyone on the panel, Dannii raised up her hands defensively.

When James's contestant Louise Adam took to the stage, singing her rendition of Nancy Sinatra's Bang Bang.

'Last week I was so into your performance, and regardless of the reaction in the room, I personally didn't like it,' Dannii told the singer as she stood on stage.

'If it’s genuine…which I’m unsure it was...' chirped Louise's mentor James, before being cut off by a defensive Dannii.

'That's all I give,' she pipped up before James continued talking over her.

'If that’s a genuine response from Dannii, that’s a real surprise from me,' he finished.

As the Top Ten in the competition get set to fall down to eight in the competition, the mentors were all pushing for their acts to make it through the double elimination.

The X Factor Australia continues Tuesday October 13, 7.30pm, Seven Network.
