Carey Mulligan has named her baby daughter Evelyn.

The 30-year-old actress and her husband Marcus Mumford, 28, who got married in 2012, have chosen a sweet angelic moniker for their three-week-old baby girl.

But it didn't take careful consideration and endless lists of names as she admitted to Entertainment Tonight on Monday that she 'just came up with it.'

She may have welcomed her new daughter just three weeks ago, but yummy mummy Carey Mulligan is back on the red carpet looking better than ever!

Although the couple are notoriously private when it comes to their personal life, Carey confirmed earlier this week she'd given birth to a girl after rumours began to surface at the end of last week.

Talking to Graham Norton, she said: 'It's a girl.'

The star did not publicly confirm her pregnancy, however she sent the rumour mill swirling when she was pictured covering her bump in a series of loose-fitted outfits.

The news was confirmed by E! who said: 'Carey has given birth to a healthy and happy baby. She is just enjoying this time with her family and close friends.'

The birth had also been reported by Us Weekly, with a source saying: 'The baby is healthy. They have been loving being parents and their friends and family are thrilled.'

Meanwhile, the Great Gatsby star - who married rocker husband Marcus in 2012 - has been busy promoting her latest film, Suffragette.

The sweet couple were childhood pen pals who reportedly reconnected through movie star and mutual friend Jake Gyllenhaal.

Suffragette, directed by Sarah Gavron and written by Abi Morgan, tells the story of the British women's suffrage movement of the late 19th and early 20th century.

Meryl Streep plays British suffragette leader Emmeline Pankhurst.

Carey's character Maud is a working wife and mother whose life is forever changed when she is secretly recruited to join the UK's growing suffragette movement led by Pankhurst.
