Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder had a very pleasant surprise on Monday afternoon when they bumped into fellow acting duo Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson.

Stopping to give each other warm hugs in the middle of New York's East Village, the new husband and wife duo weren't expecting to see their Hollywood counterparts during a relaxed day out.

Ian and Nikki, looking cute in matching fedoras, looked delighted put their shopping spree on hold to share small talk with some old pals.

Fashion: Nikki Reed and husband Ian Somerhalder arrived back at their hotel after a shopping spree while in New York City for Comic-Con on Monday and enjoyed a chance encounter with some old friends

Awkwardly, one of the last times Diane and Joshua were seen hanging out with Vampire Diaries' Ian was when he was dating fellow TV star Nina Dobrev, Diane's very close friend.

Ian and Nina dated until May 2013, having spent three years together, but he moved on with Twlight's Nikki in late 2014 before tying the knot with her six months later.

Diane and Nina remain very good friends, having been seen holding hands at this year's Coachella music festival, though it certainly seems like there's no hard feelings with Ian.

Nikki sported a black hat, fringed scarf and a long black dress with matching ankle boots, which she also wore on Sunday.

The actress also joined her costars at Comic-Con on Sunday, where she chatted about her new gig.

Happily, the show's production has moved to Atlanta for the current season, which is also where Ian will continue to film The Vampire Diaries.

Thirty-six-year-old Ian chose a daper white hat for the show, while his Twilight vet spouse went for a classic black to match her maxi dress.

The starlet paired the baggy dress, which was cinched at the waist using a second knot, with a printed gray and black shawl and a light-colored scarf she wrapped loosely around her neck.
