Every day is 'Throwback Thursday' for Hillary: Clinton fills her social media with vintage photographs so she can appear more likable as poll numbers slide
- The Clinton campaign is flooding the internet with old photos of Hillary to make her seem more human
- The photos show Hillary as a schoolgirl, a college student and dressed like a 'hippy' in her early days with Bill
- At the same time, the latest polls say that fewer voters than ever think Clinton is trustworthy, honest and understanding
- The Clinton campaign has changed strategies since 2008, this time playing up the candidate's role as a mother and grandmother
Hillary Clinton's campaign has shared dozens of photos of the candidate in her younger days to make her seem more approachable – just as polls are showing that fewer voters than ever think she's trustworthy, honest and understanding.
The pictures show Clinton as a tomboyish schoolgirl, a Wellesley college woman and a young mother, with Chelsea Clinton cutely riding a pony.
The campaign is using Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to post these images that make Clinton look more relatable, according to Politico, which first noticed the trend.

HELLO HILLARY: The Clinton campaign has released dozens of vintage photos of Hillary Clinton to make the candidate seem more human
There's political messaging in every post, as the Clinton campaign tries to portray the candidate as a fighter, but also an average American daughter, mother and granddaughter
Baby pictures, like this one of Chelsea Clinton on a pony, portray Hillary Clinton as a typical mom and, more recently, an excited grandmother of Charlotte
Meanwhile in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll, just 39 percent of Americans now see Clinton as honest and trustworthy, which matches a career low for the candidate.
Additionally, only 46 percent of Americans say she understands the problems of people like them, which is a new career low, according to the pollsters.
The vintage photos are being released to make Clinton seem more approachable.
'The pictures of her early years are important in telling her story, where she came from, the moments that shaped her life,' Jim Margolis, Clinton's media adviser and top ad maker, said to Politico.
OH BABY! On social media, Hillary Clinton's photos try to show voters that the ex-Secretary of State and former first lady and U.S. Senator had a fairly average American childhood
WORKING GIRL: Hillary Clinton's chief ad guy said the vintage photos from the candidate's early career are important because it proves she's always worked for the American voter
Hillary Clinton's campaign often participates in 'Throwback Thursday' and the photos have shown off the candidate's fashion sense through the decades
Before she was first lady, Hillary Clinton was the first lady of Arkansas, and her campaign showed off her retro looks in a 'throwback Thursday' post from 1983
There are also images of Clinton working — for the Children's Defense Fund and as the first lady of Arkansas — and Margolis said those images are important too because it proves that Clinton has consistently been fighting for the American voter.
'[I]t's not just talk, it's not more promises, but you can count on her to fight for you, because that's what she's always done — take a look for yourself, here she is,' Margolis continued.
Often the photo releases are tied to 'Throwback Thursday' an online trend that has people posting old photos onto social media networks every Thursday.
Of course, there's political messaging tied directly into the photos too. She touts the value of attending a public school in a vintage post about her high school days.
The Clinton campaign showcased Hillary Clinton's support for public schools education by sharing this vintage picture of Clinton as a high school student
Even Spanish speaking voters are getting special 'Throwback Thursday' Clinton photographs aimed at them. This one translates to 'as time goes'
The Clinton campaign is even using throwback photos of Hillary and Bill to use funds for the campaign, in this one they say that the 'hippest' way to spend $10 is by donating it to Hillary 2016
'I can recite their names and recite something about each and every one of them today,' the post said about her public school teachers, a group Democrats like Clinton have always courted.
In another the campaign shared three photographs of Clinton and her mother, the late Dorothy Rodham, on three special days — Christmas as a kid, Clinton's wedding day and daughter Chelsea Clinton's wedding day.
The post was captioned in Spanish to mean 'as times goes,' but it was also meant to appeal to Hispanic voters, another group that tends to vote Democratic.
The campaign is using cutesy photo posts to raise funds for Clinton too.
Even Hillary Clinton's 404 page, where website users end up if they type the wrong address, features some vintage Clinton of the family visiting one of the Disney parks
In 2008, Hillary Clinton downplayed her gender and the fact that her election would be a historic first. This time around she's changed the strategy, playing up being a mom and grandma at every turn
In one, where Clinton and her husband are dressed in fully hippy attire, the campaign claims the 'hippest' way to spend $10 is to donate to Hillary 2016.
When supporters go to the wrong page on her website, a 404 page appears along with a vintage photo of the Clintons at Disney. Below it, there's a link to sign up to volunteer.
With the copious amounts of photos of Clinton and the women in her family — there's a full Facebook album entitled 'mothers and daughters' — it's clear that the campaign has changed strategies since her unsuccessful bid in 2008.
Back then, she played up her Senate credentials and not her gender, downplaying the fact that her election, like then-Sen. Barack Obama's, would be a historic first.
Not this time around.
Clinton, from day one of her campaign, has touted that she would be a grandmother-in-chief and has joked that she would be the youngest woman ever to be president.
