Some friend! Martha Stewart says it might be 'good' Blake Lively closed her website Preserve adding the beauty should focus on her movie career

On Monday, Blake Lively's lifestyle website Preserve officially shut down after one year.

And the 28-year-old's friend, lifestyle guru Martha Stewart, shared her opinions on the sad failure as she stopped by the 17th Annual Hudson River Park Gala in New York City on Thursday.

'I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I know she made a big effort,' the 74-year-old told Us Weekly, adding: 'Sometimes shuttering is good.'

The Martha Stewart Living founder continued: 'Listen, she's a movie actress. Why bother with commerce right now? She's at the top of her career... I'm totally supportive, but you know what? Maybe you can't do everything at the same time.'

Blake recently shared similar sentiments on her Instagram account, as she posted a photograph in which she could be seen sporting three hats.

'Thank you guys for your support every step of the way in the @preserve_us adventure. I couldn't be more grateful!!' she wrote.

The mother-of-one added: 'One day I'll stop wearing so many hats ....but ...I'll probably be dead by then, so... I'm just doin' what mama taught me ;) She's my idol. Who's yours?'

Martha, though friends with Blake (and her husband Ryan Reynolds, having met through their mutual realtor), had previously criticized the star for her lifestyle venture.

'It's stupid, she could be an actress! Why would you want to be me if you could be an actress? I just did a movie yesterday, though - I can't even tell you about it - but I want to be Blake Lively,' she said in July of 2014.

Blake took the comment in stride, however, telling E!: 'I want to have my own path professionally and even as she said, I'm an actress.'

'I'm doing something totally different so now I sort of have two careers going on and it'll be interesting to see how it all pans out. But really what it is, is I have two passions.'

Unfortunately, Blake spoke with Vogue in September about plans to shutter the website, as she believed she had launched it before it was ready.

The Age Of Adaline star explained to the magazine that 'it never caught up to its original mission: It’s not making a difference in people’s lives, whether superficially or in a meaningful way.'

'And that’s the whole reason I started this company, not just to fluff myself, like, ‘I’m a celebrity! People will care what I have to say!’ It was so never meant to be that, and that kind of became the crutch,' she continued.

So on Monday, as the site officially shut down, the Preserve Instagram shared a message of gratitude to its supporters.

A scenic snap of a sunset was sweetly captioned: 'Thank you for sharing your stories and Preserving with us. Preserve.us is now closed, but keep an eye out for our future projects. If you have any questions, please reach out to customercare@preserve.us. XO Blake and the Preserve team. #PRSRV.'

Despite the setbacks, Blake told Vogue that she is not deterred from her initial goal, and plans to set out once again to reach her original mission.

'I’m going to take this hit, and the only way I can prove all the negative reactions wrong is to come back with a plan that will rock people,' she gushed.

'And I have that plan. And I’m so excited about it, and that’s what gave me the courage to do this, to say, 'You know what, I’m going to give myself one more shot at this, and I really have to do it as well as I can do it this time.''
