Rooney Mara wows in sheer ruffled dress as she walks the red carpet at the London Film Festival premiere of her new movie Carol

She plays a department store clerk in her new film Carol.

But for the premiere of the hugely anticipated drama at the London Film Festival on Wednesday night, Rooney Mara was all dressed up in a stunning gown as she hit the red carpet with co-star Cate Blanchett.

Rooney, 30, wowed in a semi-sheer ruffled dress for her big night, showing off her svelte figure in the pale pink number.

The US star arrived at the Odeon West End wrapped up in a camel-coloured coat, but soon braved the chilly temperatures to show off her jaw-dropping dress.

Her pale pink frock featured ruffles down the length of the skirt, with the semi-sheer delicate fabric flashing a glimpse of the actress' long legs.

The nearly-nude hue complimented the stunning star's porcelain complexion, while she added some platform heels in a matching shade to finish off the look.

Make it a frilly affair in a dress like Rooney Mara

These two ladies have been a vision all day long. They started off today in glamorous looks for their movie photo call and then took things a step further as they stepped out for the première of Carol this evening.

The pair matched earlier, both donning white ensembles, but this evening they opted for completely contrasting hues with Rooney in pretty dusky pink and Cate in striking black. They had similarly chosen frilly ensembles though, particularly Rooney who showed off her Alexander McQueen creation on the red carpet. The dress certainly gave us fashion thrills and we were instantly itching to copy the look.

The dress is from the spring 2016 line so isn't up for grabs just yet, but if you click right you can shop the current ready-to-wear collection at Farfetch.

If you're looking to get a copycat frilly affair, see below for alternatives.

Rooney contrasted the soft, pretty colour palette of her dress with some vampy makeup

A deep ruby red lip colour in a matte shade was teamed with a touch of blusher to highlight her sharp cheekbones, and a dusting of pale pink eyeshadow.

But it was the 30-year-old's hair that really stole the show.

Her brunette locks had been twisted into serious submission, given the illusion of an undercut, while the lengths of her mane had been bound tightly into a tube-like hair accessory.

The super-slick look showed off the star's flawless makeup, with her locks pulled neatly away from her face.

Rooney joined her co-star Cate Blanchett on the red carpet, with the Aussie actress looking equally stunning in a midnight blue-black shimmering gown that hugged her figure flawlessly.
