A contestant on season two of the popular NBC talent competition, the Texas native quickly caught the attention of viewers.

Recognized for her twangy vocals and bubbly country style, Raelynn was in demand from two team leaders - both Adam Levine and Blake Shelton - before eventually choosing Team Blake.

Describing herself on Instagram as a 'coffee addict' and 'Jesus lover,' the singer began her musical career by performing in church, and cites the Grammy-nominated Christian band Leeland among her influences.

Raelynn transitioned to an interest in country music after first hearing the work of Miranda Lambert.

The country superstar would later become a mentor and friend, advising the young singer on her pathway to country success.

'Miranda told me, I’ll never forget this, "You can only jump out of a plane once and only get to have your first record out once, and you want it to be a statement,"' Raelynn told A Taste of Country in January.

Yet the singer, who signed her first record deal with Valory Music Group at the age of 18, still needed time to mature.

'The more I was writing, the better I was getting,' she said. 'Everybody at the label saw me turning in these songs every week, because I was writing Monday through Friday, and they were like, "She’s just getting better. We need to let her develop. This is not her time." But hearing that was hard.'

The Southern songstress soon proved adept as both singer and writer, and has since collaborated with a number of her Voice cohorts in writing country songs.

Despite being eliminated from The Voice's Season Two, Raelynn has thrived in the wake of her reality competition fame, scoring a number seven Billboard hit with her 2014 single God Made Girls.

'I’d rather people be talking about me than not,' the singer said. 'I never wanna be a lukewarm artist. I always wanna be a hot or cold artist.'
