No make-up needed! Diane Kruger shows off her natural glow as she heads to the gym in New York

Her Chanel handbag might be worth thousands of pounds but Diane Kruger doesn't just reserve the tote for special occasions.

The 39-year-old actress used the luxury item as a gym bag as she set off to work out in New York City on Wednesday evening.

But while her bag might have made a statement, Diane opted for an understated look by ditching her make-up for the workout and showing off her natural beauty instead.

Along with her fresh faced Diane had her hair pulled back into a messy ponytail.

Holding on to her headphones and striding across the street in her leopard print Nike trainers, Diane looked ready to take on an intense workout.

But although the Troy actress looks like she spends a lot of time in the gym, she admitted that she doesn't go very often.

She told Hello! that she prefers hiking to treadmills, saying: 'I tend to like the outdoors. In Paris, I rent a bike in the street and cycle around, and in L.A. I live up in the hills so I go hiking a lot.

'I like to stay fit by being generally active.'

But since moving to New York, the star has had to rely on visiting the gym with her designer accessories.

Diane's Chanel bag also made an appearance on Tuesday, where she cut a stylish figure with an oatmeal jumper with navy stripes and large buttons, whilst running errands in New York.

She teamed the Isabel Marant jumper with a 90s style short denim skirt, which featured large pockets and button-down detailing, showing off her enviably toned pins.

This old thing? Diane carried a Chanel handbag as she headed for her gym session

Diane - who has been in a relationship with actor Joshua Jackson for 11 years - kept her accessories simple, opting for black ankle boots and socks.

The German screen star completed her look by wearing her blonde locks scraped back in a ponytail, and opted for natural make-up to highlight her striking features.

Armed with her mobile phone in one hand and a pair of oversized sunglasses in the other, the actress appeared happy and relaxed as she went about her day.

Keep cosy in Diane's Isabel Marant Breton stripe jumper

Channeling nautical vibes, Diane Kruger was spotted out and about in New York rocking a striped jumper teamed with a denim skirt, suede ankle boots and a Chanel handbag.

There are some wardrobe staples that never get old, and a Breton top is definitely one of them. In summer they're our go-to weekend staple, and come winter we’re reaching for striped chunky knits to keep us cozy.

We’re loving Diane’s cropped button detail one which is by cool French label Isabel Marant. Perfect for layering over high waisted skirts or teaming with skinny jeans, this is top of our wish list for AW15. If it’s on yours too, simply click right to snap it up at Harvey Nichols.

But if the price tag is putting you off, fear not! Because we’ve sourced some fab alternatives for a fraction of the cost (below). This Topshop one is a dead ringer for the real deal.

While Diane may come across as confident, she recently revealed she had a hard time accepting her body as she was growing up.

Speaking to Italian magazine Lo Donna, she said: 'When I was younger, being beautiful meant being skinny; I was a model, so you can imagine how hard it was to stay in shape.

'But when I turned 30, I realised how stupid I was for believing that. I think you're beautiful when you're smart and beauty is something you need to achieve.'

And Diane admitted it's her partner Josh who keeps her self esteem up.

Asked when she feels beautiful, she revealed: 'When the person I love tells me, "I love you". I'm not joking, it's true.'

Meanwhile, Joshua - who is currently starring in The Affair with British actress Ruth Wilson - joked about his new role and the impact it had on his relationship with Diane.

He joked to hosts on the Today Show that they don't watch the series together, the storyline of which revolves around cheating partners, as it could lead to 'awkward conversations.'
